Project "little monster". Modifications for hunting

So after a lot of deliberate thinking, i have finally decided to start the job. This is going to be in my little suzuki lj50, 2 stroke, 540cc (28HP).

The changes will result in somewhat like this.

The total project will have the following modifications to the existing vehicle.

1. Extending the frame from center to about 18". This will allow the passengers sitting in the rear to move inside without any problem. The rear seat will be moved forward close to the front seat and place for at least three dogs be made in the rear.
2. Replacing the engine to either a toyota 1N 1500cc diesel or to a suzuki 660cc petrol.
3. Replacing the gear box (only the speed gear) matching the above stated engines. The 4X4 gear will remain the same as in suzuki, the speed gear is linked up to the 4X4 gear with a shaft. I do not want to replace the 4X4 gear as the diffs of this LJ series are in the centre of the tube so do not want to disturb the line.
4. Full denting.
5. Full painting, mat finish. (will request for the color choice from you all, remember the vehicle will be used for hunting so nothing fancy)
6. The roll cage should be fixed with the body without any bolts so that it can be removed immediately whenever required during hunting.
7. The side doors will also be extended by 18” and should have plastic mirrors in two pieces which can move from front to rear.
8. The roll cage (not of a circular pipe but of a square pipe) should have removable plastic on rear and sides and should have fixed plastic on top.
9. The top of the front two seats also should have a removable plastic so that on removal, the front mirror can be bent down on the bonet.
10. Front seats will be changed.
11. Rubber mating on the floor.
12. Air conditioning and heating arrangement.
13. In this complete process, all the linked up modifications will be done to make it a reliable and trust worthy 4X4.

So wish me good luck and keep suggesting me whatever you feel like. It will surely help me. The project will start after Eid holidays. Will keep you updated on the developments with pictures.

When sliding plastic mirrors fixed, it will be like this. And below the rear side mirrors, i will have a piece of fixed fiber matching the color of the vehicle.

Just one very important information required at this stage. Someone told me that i should have 1N with corolla gear and it will fit without any plate in between. Otherwise 1N will require a plate for the SSR gear. So which corolla gear is he referring to? Also what about the 660cc jimny engine and gear? Some of the how, i do not like complicated engines with either turbo or computer with them. Please reply with your opinions.

Today frame sent to Nikku ustaad, city saddar road. I have decided to lengthen the frame by 15".

Noman Bhai, Firstly, best of luck for the project!

I am not very familiar with modifications on Suzuki jeeps, but I would think that getting the jimny engine and gearbox would be a good move and a clean modification. This is a very small jeep and frame, so you have to keep things in balance. I am also not familiar with the 1N but to go from 550cc petrol to 1500cc diesel seems like a big jump. I also read something on the SSR gear, which probably would be overkill here as it is heavy stuff even in its lighter shapes.

You should also run the mechanical plan by Nikku Ustad as he is widely regarded as the modification guru at Citi Sadar Road.

Thank u sir. About three days back Col Ahsan (my ustaad, cousin and a close friend too) visited me and before disassembling he tested it's offroading capability and we decided the following.
1. I am not fixing any diesel engine (as you also advised).
2. I am keeping the existing set up of both engine and gear and if required in future, i shall only be replacing it with what you have also suggested, both engine and gear of 660cc jimny. That will be easy than as the jimny set up gets mounted on the same foundations, so no cut and weld. Even last month i fixed a 5fwd jimny gear with this engine without even replacing the gear foundations. And it's perfectly set.
But some of the how, i do not like the computerized efi stuff. I being a very fauji and very non technical person as far as the electronics are concerned try to remain away from efi turbo engines.
And if you really understand how to get max result from it's just 540cc engine, it results good. If you remember on the very first meet before ramadan, i could not climb that steep slope. On the next meeting i did it twice with 4H in first gear. So i am satisfied even with the existing setup, unless i get some non efi type stuff.
You opinion on the above is required.

And as written earlier, i am extending the frame to 15" insted of 18" and will be extending the body from the rear by another 6". So will totally get 21" of space.

The rear extension of 6" will result in something like this. The vehicle will look more balanced in that way.

A = rear extension of 6".
B = middle extension of 15".
C = Front mud guard modification.

Denting in progress. Overall the body was in good condition with minor areas having rust.
