Importance of Tripping A/C

my car`s A/C doesnt trip...
Last Sunday we travel around 30 km.. during traveling A/c runs continuously!!

is it Harmful to car??
or it is ok ??

no harm in it man...AC trips only when it reaches a specific temperature,and with the heat we are havin these days in pakistan,AC of car usually would work straight hours to keep the cabin cool...so no problem,just when AC is on,engine is under load,so dont put too much pressure on car engine by reving it hard...acclerate slowly and nothin to worry about !
if AC never trips if the cabin is enough cool,maybe the thermostat switch has gone dead..but you can always manually turn off ac time to time,just in case !

if ur ac doesnot trip then do check whether ur ac is providing enough cooling. its the first step of a malfunctioning ac.

lower the blower speed if you feel comfortable. That way the evaporator will chill down switching off the compressor.

i mean if we use it low than will it use same petrole or less ??

need to ask a question... the higher side a/c pipe of my car (the one that comes out of the compressor) accumulates frost on it... if the a/c is on and the rpm is higher then idle (above 2000) the frost appears within 10 seconds or so... is it normal or good/bad?
the car is 2006 honda city idsi. a/c has been serviced recently.

using aircon affects the fuel consumption. ONLY blower does not. Aircon compressor runs on engine power, blowers works on electric motor.

Using blower at high speed when cabin is hot - ok, lower the blower speed when cabin is comfortable compressor start working automatic like a home aircon.

the higher the speed of the fan/blower, the longer the compressor will stay on.

in my car, at full fan speed, the compressor might stay on for 40 seconds or so, on lowest fan speed, compressor stay on for as low as 5 seconds... and this directly effects the fuel economy... so, once ur car's cabin is cooled down, turn down the fan speed...

in normal conditions if you touch the discharge pipe of the compressor you will have to leave your skin on it to barbecue.

The suction pipe (thick) will sweat from the chill as evaporated gas is being sucked back to the compressor, but it should not have ice (frost) forming on it, it you have ice on it then you might also have ice on the evaporator which will cause blockage of air flow.

Ice formation on the suction line is caused by system going below freezing temperature and can also cause some liquid to pass to the compressor which can break it. Check the system pressure immediately.

in normal conditions if you touch the discharge pipe of the compressor you will have to leave your skin on it to barbecue.

The suction pipe (thick) will sweat from the chill as evaporated gas is being sucked back to the compressor, but it should not have ice (frost) forming on it, it you have ice on it then you might also have ice on the evaporator which will cause blockage of air flow.

Ice formation on the suction line is caused by system going below freezing temperature and can also cause some liquid to pass to the compressor which can break it. Check the system pressure immediately.

I knew something was wrong... theres also some issue with the compressor clutch. when parked, if i rev high at once, the clutch slips, the compressor stops for a second or two and then gains traction again as the engine speed gets stable. some times, it wont engage at all regardless of the rpm. could this be somehow connected to the frost issue? heres a pic of the pipe that im talking about. its the thicker one.

the line you show is the suction line, it GOES to the compressor NOT comes out of it, the pipe that COMES OUT of it is the one by the radiator, do not even dream of touching the metal part of it - specially when its hot outside.

Seems that you need to change the compressor clutch pressure plate. You will see chatter marks on it when you remove it. Any A/C mechanic can change it for you, I would suggest to buy it brand new one and properly burnish it by actuating the compressor at least 20 times in 3 minutes with engine idling.

so, is the frost on that pipe normal or not? and one more question, can the clutch be replaced while the compressor is fitted to its place, because if its taken off , the gas that i got refilled will be wasted...

the suction line should be sweating cold not frosting over. anyway - the clutch can be changed with compressor in place because you can actually see the compressor pulley from the side when you remove all panels. The older Hondas were not like this.

@capsat, the ECON button is what is says - economy, it makes the A/C compressor switch off at a higher temperature, it can only function with the correct A/C amplifier in place with original A/C evap sensor. Most (read 99%) of such cars have it muddled up and both buttons do the exact same thing - run the compressor.

my MB has this too - The germans had a sense of humor in this case, they completely eliminated A/C compressor function with that button.
