Tourist under attack by local people of Murree

Nothing bad like this happened with me in Murree. But this is true that Murree locals need to be more hospitable to tourists. Too many misbehaving incidents lately.

People of Gilgit Baltistan are the best in whole Pakistan when it comes to hospitality especially for tourists.

If i can add few words; Murree is a totally no go area for families. Firstly Murree is totally polluted place as compare to Nathiagali, which is neat, clean and still a virgin place. Murree is not tourist friendly in terms of locals hosts plus the crowd that comes there is not from gentry and only singles looking for some masti or due to easy access through public transport. However no attraction in terms of natural beauty. In comparison Nathiagali is far better for families in all these respects particularly the locals are very peaceful, in treating tourists who are even otherwise very polite reason they belong to District Abbotabad. Be careful from Murree locals residing from Ghora Gali uptill Muree and till Bhurban. If one can afford, go to Naran, which is much much peaceful and way better in terms of natural beauty.
Speaking in terms of these Murree people, i can recall all those bad incidents during my posting which endorse the previous posts. Police posted there shy away and terrified by themselves from locals due to their bad attitude. I recall one of such qabza group who illegally took over shops of a widow, and use to have long beards and even sponsored that mosque with GPO, use to threaten police not to interfere. This fact was known to us when we approached local police for recovery of loan defaults owed by these tabliqhi qabza groups called "Bhootnas" by locals. so all in all, avoid Murree while being with families.

Haven't been to Murree for years; thank God that we never faced any similar situation.

However, I remember a little boy crying to his mother, his face red on one side, saying that a shop keeper had beaten him.

Its a s**t location (quite literally with its sewage), I don't know why people even bother going there any more.

Feel sorry for the poor guy. I wont say about the people of Murree, its a common sight all over.
In Murree, locals leverage tourists, they literally rob them in terms of pricing, quality is long gone. The people are generally dry.
Anyway like they say "aanda khao, murghi na khao". These tourist provide them with undue revenue, and then you bash them openly in public infront of their families while the law enforcement act as spectators, actually worse than spectators.
We need to have some law enforcement in public places with huge footfalls. Things can get out of control pretty quickly.

Anyway, im a resident of Islamabad, and last trip to Murree was ..dont remember

I went to murree in 2011 with my university group of friends and with what I saw I told everyone in my family murree is not a place to go with family anymore. All kind of bull crap is going on there.

2 weeks back I was visiting lhr/Gujranwala/pindi so I visited muree just to get a chill of the weather as it was Wednesday I was surprised to see such a empty murree. Went walking from the KFC mall so didn't notice much. Was all happy.

3 days later I went from lhr to murree with my family in laws. We stayed at massionest suites. Which is about 10 minutes from mall road. Me and my wife were hungry so decided to take a drive and have sum thing to eat as we entered the mall road people gathered jumping on my car hotel hotel hotel... Kamra kamra kamra... Started knocking windows.... Which was pretty Scarry at 1 am in the night. Eventually I managed to cross those idiots and finally park my car just outside the police station at a no parking. Other cars were parked there too and since it was 1 am I decided there was no better parking. Came back went thru the same scary hotel leilo thing.

One guy came to me on the mall road there was a rangers guy as soon as I got near the army guy he stepped back. I have heard about a lot pic pockets. So I'm very carefull about unknown people coming any close.

Coming to the conclusion and location on the pictures looks similar to where these hotel agents try to grab you. Once you decline their hotels they use abusive language making you use abusive language in return and start a fight.

My advise murree is nothing but the mall road. Search for a parking and goto murree only to visit mall road for an hour or 2 or eat food.

Staying on mall road is only recommend if you know of a decent hotel and is prebooked. Going with luggage and family and finding a hotel can b tricky. Plus these taxi back holes and commissions setup and don't take you to the mall road (aggei rasta band hai yahan se khud Jana hoga crap).

BC bhurban is insane expensive even for well privileged people. Staying in nathiagalli or private newly built places near bhurban or in upper murree like massionet or hotel one etc is a lot better option. Murree mall road is a good experience but its nothing like it used to be.

If someone's crazy to go there a stay for about 2-4 hours is sufficient for shopping/sightseeing/ and murree foor and pindi point etc.

Bhai ghar beth jao. Honeymoon is where love is. You can risk getting beaten up with a group of friends, I don't wish my enemy get beat when he's with his family.
@chinyoti Yes, this happens and its really sad. I hope you find better places to go with your family. In my teenage, I made the mistake of confronting a tea wala at Charra Pani, who was selling garam anday. He was selling them for Rs 35 a pop when Anda was 1/10th the price. I said, ye anda kya daewoo par akeli seat le kar aya hai. I didn't pay and once I left, my friends made me realize the mistake I had made. I have learnt to control my temper now.

watching this video made me sick! are they really humans! does no body realizes that a girl n her mother were screaming for help to protect their loved ones!!! and whoever recorded this video is an idiot! lives are at stake n this person cared about recording n posting for what!
I am sorry for being harsh!!! but even my pet cats n dogs are way better then them because they dont bite or growl when guests come to our home!!
and they should realize that their source of income is through tourism!!!
why i m really angry is because i have been through this scene but in extreme level in Aug 2007! while i was with my relatives and familly in Nathia Gali, all of a sudden, there was a fight among the local people n in few seconds i saw locals of both parties brought sticks n knives n fought in the middle of the road n breaking car windows n shops too! we all got displaced n i had to protect my sister n my young cousin n hid under the table of restaurant! i was freakin worried for my mother, mamu n his family! went on for 10 minutes n suddenly everything went quiet! i went out alone n saw several people hiding under the car coming out! n heard my mother screaming for us crying!!!! that was the worst day of our lives! n till now we never went any Northern areas!!! n best part the police were hiding in the Masjid!!!
fighting, beating, killing is not a honorable solution!!!!

I don't blame the person who shot this. Due to his effort, many of us including myself are disgusted. I was talking to a friend about a small plot of land the other day available for purchase in Muree and now I am having second thoughts.

My blood started boiling after watching this video, this could have been my family being pushed around. The reason of the argument does not even matter, do these people not think at all ? ganging up on a family like this ? how would they feel if their mother or daughter or wife was pushed around like this, pathetic.

I actually went to Muree in 2010, but left the same day because it was too crowded. I have been to the North side of Pakistan a couple of times and only visited Muree for a short time and stayed at Nathiagali instead. But after watching this and reading the comments here that it has become a norm, I will make sure to not stop by from now on.
