Tourist under attack by local people of Murree

It's a good thread - and think I should contribute sharing mine too. Guys who said that Murree people are rude and ill-mannered are very correct. Even their "Oldies" got attitude man which you won't see in a 20 year old boy in your city. Totally agreed they need to be taught a lesson but the problem is you fight with one - they'll attack you - all together. I have seen a couple of incidents in Murree too but the worst one happened in Ayubia where a bunch of friends vs. local people. One of the locals got out of control and even got a gun.

The attitude I'd say is right - IMO a couple of reasons -

1. The people we see in "gandi shalwar kameez" they actually own a couple of buildings - I am evident one person who use to wear dirty clothes owns a big hotel building at Mall road worth of of 18 Crores plus a couple of shops at GPO Road. So the attitude is right.

2. MAJOR FACT - I think Murree is over-visited by US and every one did that in his early age specially college and universities. The locals have the idea that these people can't stop and keep themselves from coming here. When I see families who book Lalazar rooms in Murree a month in advance for full ramadan so attitude "boss aa hi jata hay". When you know that you can upsell and it won't hurt if you don't go in low in pricing.

3. Murree and somewhat Nathia Gali - both the places aren't family spot anymore - SPECIALLY IN PEAK SEASON.

4. I have seen a couple of families already diverted to the other spots like AJK, Gilgit, Naran, etc.

5. If our Govt. pay attention and work on the development of the roads which will enable families to plan to go for other places. For now they are like - Murree is the most easy accessible place - lets go there and other areas gets neglected due to bad road condition and one niche "itni door kon jaye" but I strongly believe as far as you go "it only gets better"

I went to murree in 2011 with my university group of friends and with what I saw I told everyone in my family murree is not a place to go with family anymore. All kind of bull crap is going on there.

2 weeks back I was visiting lhr/Gujranwala/pindi so I visited muree just to get a chill of the weather as it was Wednesday I was surprised to see such a empty murree. Went walking from the KFC mall so didn't notice much. Was all happy.

3 days later I went from lhr to murree with my family in laws. We stayed at massionest suites. Which is about 10 minutes from mall road. Me and my wife were hungry so decided to take a drive and have sum thing to eat as we entered the mall road people gathered jumping on my car hotel hotel hotel... Kamra kamra kamra... Started knocking windows.... Which was pretty Scarry at 1 am in the night. Eventually I managed to cross those idiots and finally park my car just outside the police station at a no parking. Other cars were parked there too and since it was 1 am I decided there was no better parking. Came back went thru the same scary hotel leilo thing.

One guy came to me on the mall road there was a rangers guy as soon as I got near the army guy he stepped back. I have heard about a lot pic pockets. So I'm very carefull about unknown people coming any close.

Coming to the conclusion and location on the pictures looks similar to where these hotel agents try to grab you. Once you decline their hotels they use abusive language making you use abusive language in return and start a fight.

My advise murree is nothing but the mall road. Search for a parking and goto murree only to visit mall road for an hour or 2 or eat food.

Staying on mall road is only recommend if you know of a decent hotel and is prebooked. Going with luggage and family and finding a hotel can b tricky. Plus these taxi back holes and commissions setup and don't take you to the mall road (aggei rasta band hai yahan se khud Jana hoga crap).

BC bhurban is insane expensive even for well privileged people. Staying in nathiagalli or private newly built places near bhurban or in upper murree like massionet or hotel one etc is a lot better option. Murree mall road is a good experience but its nothing like it used to be.

If someone's crazy to go there a stay for about 2-4 hours is sufficient for shopping/sightseeing/ and murree foor and pindi point etc.

well its their frustration, hatred and jealousy that they released on tourists if they are poor its not the fault of the middle class tourists which mostly visit Murree. They didnt even bother about the women and children. One should totally ignore these filthy retarded people unless they get physical. This type of behavior can be seen any where in Pk but is more common when middle class people get surrounded by the deprived class. Muree is way to over crowded and polluted. Been 6 years since I have stopped their not family place any more.

Its like saying karachi is a no go area. So because of some people I won't go blaming the entire murree and as I said its a okayish place to visit for a one time food. Or 1 hour of shopping seeing local products I had a decent time with family. Having chapli kababs and coffee. Naran wasn't an option so this was the best we could do in a 2 days trip nathiagali and a wapsi stay for an hour at mall road.

Still I'm not suggesting anything its up to anyone going to decide weather they should go or not go. I'd never stay at mall road or would never visit on a weekend

I can't stop myself from laughing when I hear people visit Murree......The last time I stayed in murree was back in 1996. I visited Mall road once that too in year 2011. You are right ppl from Pindi/Isloo have other options but visiting murree .....I don't wana go there.

Murree is suppose to be a hill station n people can go there for sight seeing. What i meant was that there is no sight seeing on mall road. The stuff for sale is of the worst quality and the food is below standard. Its just another bazar like in any other city. The only difference being that regular bazars have better quality n better people.

Well this is common now a days....With less tourists going in Murree due to bad conditions and shortage of water....these effing pahari have made badmashi a habit............. we had 2 apartments in murree cecil and had to sell it on throw away prices just because the local maintenance wanted bhatta.....

it took a lot of talking and a lot of badmashi in the end and Allah ka shuker we sold em.....but events like such have become common in Murree....they gang up on tourists and local authorities do nothing

Murree is fine if you are coming from Islamabad or nearby places and visiting for a few hours, plus there is no real scenic beauty in murree.

If you need a longer stay I would suggest places like Gilgit or Kashmir, although they are a bit far away (I think that the journey is the most enjoyable part of the trip ). During my recent visit to Kashmir I found the people to be really nice and hospitable, even the little children were really nice. Even the price of food and stuff like biscuits etc was the same as their price in Lahore.

Pahariya's ahhh, this is their old tradition. I wouldn't say that all people from there are bad but mostly these guys are rude and have serious attitude issues. They hate people visiting murree. Its been years since i went to murree. Bhurbhan and Nathiagali are comparatively better places to visit then murree.

I have lived my whole life in these places .. The ppl from galyat and murree sections are somewhat criminal minded .. In Abbottabad courts you will be shocked to see that every 2 3 criminal case is against a person who belong to these places .. nathiagali is way better than murree because its small and clean.Educated ppl visit.The owners of hotels motels belong to decent family you wont see any noora gama who owns hotels there ..murree on the other hand is a disaster.You can't even breathe on the mall road ..many hotels and number of unknown hotels .

In 2003 we had a university trip to Muree, on mall road some 5 to 6 shopkeepers started abusing an old man. Some of 10 to 15 of us were present on the scene and those shopkeepers started beating that old man with stick, n that was the start of bad time for those sick minded ppl.
Day duna dun day Dana dun we started hitting those guys n tried to save old man meanwhile more shopkeepers gathered from different shops n they were some 20 to 30 guys
But never mind in the same time our university fellows also got the news and we were 150 to 200 by that time
I don't have to tell what happens next but we throw those b**** in the police station at the end

we have faced many incidents like this...back in 2010 winters we had a collage trip to murree it was one night stay in murree and 2nd night in nathiagali...the hotel were we stayed in Murree was soo rude and kharos type guy shouting always while booking they said hot/cold water anytime bla bla but there was no water at all...khair....we were chilling and enjoying late night walk on Mall road...when we came back hotel door was locked from inside and the owner was sleeping in reception area..we knocked it for an hour he was not opening the door we were seeing him moving opening eyes seeing us but he didn't getup..soo then we called our mates who were inside the room to come and open the door for us...after some time our Bus driver called us and said it soo cold here in Bus we need more kambals...we said come on we will arrange for you..when he came with his partner to get more blankets we gave him 4 blankets from other rooms...hahaha..and we said isse chadr k neche chupa k le jao hotel se bahir.. a decent loss for the owner...at morning we checked out..while checking out it was another hassle... he was saying 8 bje checkout hota hai ap log late uthe ho aik din aurr k paise do... bla bla..but later it got solved.. Jo bhi ho acha khasa nuksan kia Hotel wale ka..

The guys here now referring to college university experience and I should say nothing has changed in the rude behavior of these pahareys after 25 years. In 1991 I was in Murree and I saw mall road shopkeepers taking their positions to fight with taxila uet students who had gone to bring back more students to teach lesson to pahareyas.

According to today's pictures it looks like people have positively responded to the recent attack video which gone viral on social network. I hope more and more tourists respond to this matter seriously and the locals should have some taste of their own dust. This is what is called "KARMA" or you can say "jaisi karni waisi bharni".
