Dear all...Salam.
I've been resto-modding a 1965 Impala for quite some time now. Whilst I've been doing things to the engine, drivetrain, suspension, interior, etc...I've largely left the outer-body-cosmetics of the vehicle untouched. The vehicle is currently painted in a dark silver colour, and no embellishments have been added to the exterior, at all.
In a way, I'm rather lucky that I have two Impalas (a '65 and a '67), one of which I plan on keeping as near to stock as possible (the '67). That leaves me with a lot of liberty of action for doing nasty things to the '65
Already, the '65 has undergone some pretty radical changes. It now boasts a 300 bhp engine, Tiptronic transmission, a great new exhaust, brand new tyres, and is in the process of getting an absolutely brilliant crimson-and-black interior. In all, I hope for it to be a true muscle car in the old-school resto-mod mode. Perhaps the only thing left to "set it alight" is some exterior paint, to give it that "sit upright and look at me" feeling. However, at this point in time, I want to drive the car for a while with its current paint job, and later, change the paint colour, altogether. For now, I'm thinking of some minor exterior changes, to keep in currency with the somewhat-wild nature of this car.
Flames, are one such means of doing this. Primarily, I'm interested in something in red and black (keeping with the interior of the vehicle). I'm also interested in this being something I do myself, without having to rely too much on commercial options / commercial artists. This way, if it turns out bad...I'll have only myself to blame!
Like all my projects, PakWheels is a terrific forum for the posting of ideas, healthy criticism, and techniques. Let's see what this thread brings up, in terms of the same. And let's also see where this wacky idea actually takes us, Insha Allah!
To start with, here are some pictures of the '65 Impala in its present shape.
