    Default Honda City 2014 Pakistan launch

    Honda Atlas cars Pakistan limited is planning to launch new Honda City 2014.The variants will be same as before 1.3 City and 1.5 City aspire. The car will be launched with same specifications as of Honda Thailand except the push start and e-con. The car will be Launched any time after the end of June.

    you are so right, in fact biggest terrorist responsible for our peoples' death is our stupid auto policy, if they do a census deaths due to accidents are far greater than terrorism, do we have consumer courts where we can sue them? or sue the abandonment of mandatory model change policy? or sue good-for-nothing-just-in-place mehran's seat belts?

    Guys 2017 for City is out of question because by the end of 2017 face lift of new City will be out in the World and no one will buy the car here, then again Honda will not be able to Launch new model in line with World, because of time and units required to cover investment.

    And now situation of Pakistan is getting change new company' s are looking to re enter or launch their cars in Pakistan. And these big 3 cannot rule the Pakistan for ever this will be break sometime soon.

    I am feeling Honda will launch new city in late 2015 other wise next year City sale will be zero, because of used cars and Corolla GLI.

    No ones like to buy old shape as new.

    The market segment of City is different then Cultus , Mehran, Bolan in Pakistan

    The upcomming Honda city would be now called as old shape city, caz actually it has become old now...and the name of car should be Honda Shity...for being introduced so late..

    City is seeing highest sales in its history for last 10 months, so saying that nobody will buy next year is wrong analysis. Even 15 years old cultus is selling same number without fall in sales. City price difference with XLI is main point and since this situation is not changing it will keep on selling like this for years even if new model is not introduced.

    It is exactly what Sdogar has said. Bolan/Ravi are based on a late 1970s platform but still selling like hot cakes in Pakistan. Do not compare Pakistani market with other markets. Pakistani market is not consumer driven like the international market but driven by assembler mafia and pro-existing assembler mafia government. There is no competition here. City is the only sub-compact category Sedan in Pakistan. there is no other option for consumers whatsoever. GLi falls under compact category. This is why city's resale may rise in the future instead of falling down.

    So there structure of Pakistani market:-

    1. Small cars (all -types ) = only 1 player Paksuzuki (Over 60% market is in this segment)
    2. Sub Compact = Honda City (again only 1 player)
    3. Compact = Toyota XLI/GLI (again only 1 player)
    4. Compact (upper end) = Honda Civic/ Corolla Altis (2 players in this segment that's why some competition n relatively better offering i.e dual airbags in civic but this segment is very small)

    Just to tell you existing assemblers are influencing future policies are trying to block new assemblers from entering the Pakistan market. There is already opposition and lobbying from assemblers to grant incentives to Volkswagen, Nissan, and General Motors. These three potential entrants are in talks with government but so far there is no concrete progress. Government has been unable to develop policy since 2012 as well and seems to be delaying it repeatedly (even this policy is not pro-consumer in its current draft form). Further more existing assemblers, especially PakSuzuki also are against safety standards implementation.

    Unfortunately, to me it seems until and unless monopoly of existing assemblers is broken and competition is introduced things are going to get worse in Pakistan's auto industry for the consumer. You can even see back in the 1980s and 1990s even Paksuzuki replaced models after 5-7 years (FX, Baleno, Khuyber, Margallah are were not sold beyond this) but now if you look at their lineup their cars are not being replaced. Honda replaced previous city models on time. Paksuzuki has set a wrong precedent which Honda is starting to follow, if situation remain the same to maximize profit repatriation to Japan, Indus may also explore option of not replacing model.

    honda isn't selling like hot cakes, when toyota are building units 24/7 with labour working 3 shifts and units booked today being delivered after december, we see honda's sale as stagnant, even when whole pakistani auto industry saw a massive boost in sale in last fiscal year due to economic stability and petrol prices, suzuki only saw that boost in wagon r, and honda saw it only in dreams. their counterparts in toyota went upto 54k units sold and honda's were at the same level as previous year, this is not business when consumer is spending money a lot and you are not the one selling it, its a loss. and if nissan manage to pull out an agreement with pakistan then it will be a great set back for honda.

    Toyota of course sells more. I never said it doesn't. Refer to PAMA website highest sales of current generation city have been seen in 2015. Civic sales are down but City's are up and also I said "Bolan/Ravi" is selling like hot cakes I used the Hot cake term for them. :-) . This is also in part due to Punjab government handing over contracts to Paksuzuki for 30,000 cars without considering FAW which assembles pickups as well with more features.

    Please see statistics on City's sale for your clarity.

    Nissan and others are direly needed. Reports say that Nissan is initially going for small car market in Pakistan. That will mostly have impact on Paksuzuki not Honda.

    Competition also will make the industry more efficient. Simple logic. Once industry becomes efficient and produces international quality modern cars with modern safety and emissions standards exports will be possible.

    Thus this will benefit both consumers and country in the long run. Remember Paksuzuki is owned by Suzuki Japan which is focusing on making India it's export hub. They are only focusing on reaping profits from Pakistan. It is the government who needs to enforce modernization and create competition. The way current things are assemblers are having their own way with government doing a miserable job. The current situation is not good for Pakistani consumers or the economy.

    It is only beneficial for the Japanese Economy getting high rate of return and profits from Pakistan without investing in anything (esp in Paksuzuki's case).

    Honda City Sales Figures:


    July-Aug 2014 = 1,921
    July-Aug 2015 = 3,037
    Since its launch, highest ever sales of city (current gen) were recorded in Jan 2015 when 2103 units were sold in one month.

    Saw the new city just outside wapda town, Lahore. Of course must be a hybrid import.

    Exterior wise, nothing worth drooling over. The current shape here at least gives the car a solid clean look.

    The new one, seems like they changed the angles for the sake of change. The big cut on the side and rear light styling makes it look out of place, IMO.

    I totally agree with you brother , i saw the same near valencia and had same thoughts, the exterior may look awesome in pics but in real its not worth drooling over .
    Got a glimpse of the interior and i liked that

    Current shape of city is better , well its just my opinion

    There are two versions of Honda City that can be imported from Japan. One is the Honda Grace Hybrid launched late last year in Japan and recently a non-hybrid petrol version Honda Grace LX was also launched there a few months back. Honda Grace LX is the same as Honda City elsewhere asides from some differences in the 1.5 iVTEC engine.

    I do agree that visually the newer Honda City is not that impressive however it has a more fuel efficient engine and CVT transmission is way better than previous generation's 5 speed AT. It also comes with other features such as climate control, sunroof, push start, etc. Asides from looks it has a lot of improvements over previous model.

    Sorry for late response to your post. Problem is government always favors existing assemblers and bows down to pressure of Japanese Embassy to provide protection to auto mafia in Pakistan. The influence of Japanese Embassy goes to the extent that even in used cars Government of Pakistan has higher duties on NON-ASIAN MAKES than ASIAN MAKES so that vehicle imports from Europe and the US are minimized.(Source FBR car import rules). This clearly indicates the extent of discrimination. I would request you and all fellow members to educate as many people as you can about automotive safety and technology features. With internet due to more and more people becoming aware, the exploitation by Japanese assemblers in Pakistan will have to end some day as gradually pressure from consumers will increase.

    i pay to Allah that we get some honest policy makers soon. that can change the whole situation in favor of consumers and the country's economy. pakistan has so much potential we should be exporting vehicles given the potential of our workforce and manufacturing quality auto parts as well.

    Why should forum staff waste time incrementing it every year? Just change it to 2025 (? la Pak Suzuki) and be done with it. Atlas Honda is adopting the diseased mentality of Pak Suzuki regarding selling 30-40 year old models.
