Default Oem Keyless Entry for Civic iVTEC (8th Gen)

One of the difference between Civic iVTEC (famously "VTi") and Civic Oriel is absence of Keyless Entry. You can get the OEM like Keyless Entry in iVTEC!

You need to get the Key with Remote from Atla$ dealer; current price is 6700Rs. This key comes without any cuts. Program the remote using the following steps. Get the cuts from some key maker, the key will not work in ignition due to Immobilizer. For this, make an appointment with Atla$ dealer for Immobilizer Programming. The Atla$ field engineer usually visit dealer once in a week; he will hook your Civic with the computer and enroll your new key into the Immobilizer. They charge 400Rs for this.

    Civic Keyless Remote Programming

Wear your seat belts; close all doors; keep the doors unlocked!

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON / II; wait and let the Cluster finish testing etc
    2. Press the Lock button of remote
    3. Turn the ignition switch to OFF / I
    4. Do Step 1-3; three times
    5. Do Step 1-3 fourth time; this time you should hear door locks making sound; meaning its entered into Programming Mode
    6. Press the Lock button of remote once more; if you want to program multiple remotes; press Lock on each (three remotes can be programmed)
    7. Turn the ignition switch of OFF / I

    The remote(s) are now programmed

The guys @ Atla$ dealer might confuse you saying it doesnt work etc... But it works fine; iVTEC comes with keyless receiver from factory and everything is already in place...they just dont give you this key with remote...simply ask the dealer that you want the key with remote; you dont have to tell them that you need it for iVTEC

Oem Keyless Entry for Civic iVTEC 8th Gen -269398
Oem Keyless Entry for Civic iVTEC 8th Gen -269431

    Disclaimer for older iVTEC

I tested it with 2011; I am not sure about older iVTECs; it might work and it might not work...you should check if your Civic has the receiver or not by doing the above Keyless Programming Steps; with any Oriel Key...ask your friend or family member; test the Oriel key with your Civic....follow the above steps till number 5; and then simply turn everything off...if you hear the door locks making noise it means it has the receiver and other things in place...so do test this before placing the order

For the Keyless system to work; you need (a) transmitter/remote, (b) the receiver thats installed in the car, also has mini computer that checks the transmittor frequency/code and is integrated with (c) the door lock actuators and supporting circuitry. Having central locking doest mean you have (a) and (b) components.

The point of this thread is that in iVTEC/VTi; only (a) component i-e the transmitter/remote (Oriel Key) is missing; the (b) and (c) components are already in place. There are many after market keyless systems available; they even have more features like remote engine start and others. The only issue with them is that they need interfacing with the car electronics and installing these systems in the car voids the warranty. Therefore for Civic owners; the above solution is best; as its OEM and obviously doesnt void any warranty.

This Oriel OEM Keyless will not work with City iVTEC. Civic iVTEC and Civic Oriel are trims of same car; they share same parts and assembly lines. I dont think City iVTEC comes with any keyless receiver etc.

This said; you can always try it out (for FREE) if you can find Oriel key in your friends and family; test it out on same lines as suggested in "Disclaimer for older iVTEC" section. Dont forget to inform us all!

If your City iVTEC is under warranty; I will advise you not to install the after markets Keyless Systems. These new car electronics are very expensive and sensitive and road side electricians can mess things up!

Enrolled the new Remote Key today into Civic's Immobilizer. They took 400Rs for this; it was just 2-3 minute job They hook the car to the computer and reset the Immobilizer and enrolled all the four keys (3 OEM + 1 Remote)

This remote doesnt work with City iVTEC; got it confirmed today!

Then whats the solution for city iVTEC, is OEM keyless entry available for it, or we have to buy cheap ones available in market.

I still advise to live without keyless instead of going for chinese keyless systems. Wait for expiry of your car's warranty; in case of City; its a long wait; 3 years or 70k on ODO
    • Indu$ dealers offer CNG installations in Corolla keeping the warranry intact; you can try Atla$ dealer and see if the dealer can offer similar service for Keyless / Security System.
    • When you get the insurance; some companies install Tracker / Security System; they have close relationships with Atla$ and their dealers and when they install such things warranty is not void. Its expensive option to get Keyless indirectly

This OEM setup will not work with City iVTEC...Unfortunately you will have to opt for after market keyless / security system for your City!

    Salam brother!

I just bought a 2012 Ivtec Prosmatec. My question is, will it still work on this model? I asked Honda Classic in Islamabad for a blank Oriel key and they said its not available with us and we have to give this car to the factory to install the stuff for 10 thousand BLAH BLAH BLAH...
How can I get the key now?
