    Hello guys
    hope everyone is doing fine
    tiny info needed
my civic's brake oil level has gone down about 5mm from the max mark. The car is driven 9800kms.
I was gonna fill it up but the honda people say it goes down as the brake pads wear off. They said it doesn't require filling and once the pads are finished and you replace them, it ll rise to it's original level.
still that tiny bit less is bugging me.......are the people at honda correct or should I fill it up to the max mark.
    its a 2014 oriel pros.

Don't fill it till the Max level.

I don't know whether the Honda people are correct or not, but generally you don't fill gear oil, brake oil or steering fluid to max level.

It is usually a notch below the Max level.

As much as i hate to admit it, i would say yes to only one thing which the new civic is not at par with the 8 Gen; the drive and road grip.

Those are weights used for wheel balancing.

When you got your tyres changed these weights need to be changed and new ones of selected value are to be put on.

No worries the changer would've put new ones on when balancing.

The person who put these here was a retard. Tell him to put these weights on the inner lip of the rim next time.

guys.... very nice thread. read the first few pages. will return soon. I am myself considering to get a 9th gen as 2 of my friends here already bought one and are satisfied. the drive is nice. feels very calm and soft. fuel economy is excellent.

however, just recently i drove a 2008 8th gen civic with 111000 kms on it and not so well maintained one. it was noticeably faster then the 2 9th gens that us friends drive. is it really faster then a 9th gen? not that i am into racing or anything but just curious. both have same engine, may be they have different gearboxes? i didnt note but may be 8th gen has shorter gear ratios hence better acceleration but bad fuel economy and 9th gen is the opposite? whats the catch here?

I have a 2009 8th Gen driven 120000 but very well Honda Maintained and still drives like a 2012 8th Gen, and i also have a 2013 9th Gen driven 25000. Both Prosmatec which i drive alternately on different days and mood. Therefore i am going to provide you my comparison.
Acceleration: at first the 9th Gen did feel it's slow but first few thousand Kilometres it was fine. To be honest they both are equally fast and not that different.
Grip & Stability: 9th Gen is no where near 8th Gen. The 8th Gen is by miles a better car in this area. The stability of 8th at 200-km/hr is equal to 9th at 150-km/hr. 9th scares you
Brakes: the movement and response of brake paddle in 9 is abrupt and hard while 8 is slightly soft. But the Grip factor makes overall braking experience better in 8th and 9th doesn't feel good due to grip.
Comfort: 9th is better than 8th around this area. It feels softer on potholes while the 8th was hard
The softness and added clearance in 9th has given it comfort but compromised grip & stability. Obviously for that it would have been hard and low which the 8th Gen. Gets very expensive for a car maker to provide a suspension which does both jobs good. But since its a Civic so they had to give either of the two.
Interior: The 9th feels much better, a bit more charming and further more futuristic.
Fuel Economy: Yes 8th is a guzzler and 9th is much better with fuel economy.
The 8th Gen had a hydraulic Power steering but 9th has Electronic. So 8th feels more responsive as it acts natural all the time but 9th steering feels a bit less accurate.
This change in steering is also a major reason for fuel economy aling with some engine tweaks. The hydraulic steering has a direct load on engine so consumes a few percentage of fuel with that load.
At the end of the day it's actually hard to decide which is better. Both have positive and negative points. But the 8th gen feels better overall in terms of drive. I have more inclination towards it specially when i have to travel on the motorway, its a bit more precise to control. I prefer taking 8th Gen on my trips.
The fulcrum accelerator pedal of 8th rising from the floor is much comfortable for foot as compared to low budget hanging pedal of 9th. Looks like in certain areas they degraded 9th Gen purposely to find excuses for giving a better 10th gen and cash the success they developed of 8th Gen to sell 9th as people would trust them.
The 9th is not a bad car but 8th gen was truely a car that was "Reborn"
Hope this long story (my opinions and some may duffer) isn't boring

These weights are usually on the inner side of the rim.
But if i am not wrong, these days there are automatic balancing machines which specify whether to put the weight on the outside or inside of the rim.

You can get these for free from any tyre shop.
I hope you're not planning to buy one and put on the rim because you need a special tool to fix these.

The engine of 9th Gen is a tad bit different from 8th Gen

The new R18z1 is inclined more towards economy.

Not sure about the gearbox, but if my memory serves me right i think the gear box is the same with similar gear ratios in both the cars.

Anyone please correct me if i am wrong.
