    Default Help- Turbo. 99 civic manual. Waqar_14

    this is what ive been thinking about lately. and the only reason i didnt go for the headers yet. i was thinking about a small turbo, enough for 120-150 whp. Sicne NA wont get me that much without opening up the engine (or so ive been told) i wanted to know what turbo would get me that much. im thinking along the lines of low boost- 4/5 psi and a small, cheap turbo.

    prices, specs please

    a low boost setup will not end up in opeing the head, or breaking the pistons... i dont know where that came from.

    u can run 8psi safely on yr motor...that is if uve got a complete kit

    a friend of mine just took his kit off...and is deciding to sell it...
    hes took it off because he boosted 16psi with it along with 60shots of nitrous..and then he broke a piston..
    since he got the engine rebuilt hes been having wiring troubles and is not able to set the car.

    if yr intrested then his kit inculdes:
    1.KKK k24 turbo with adjustable wastegate
    2. Turbo manifold.
    3. Cold side chargepipes (from intercooler to intake manifold)
    4. BOV
    5. 450cc dsm injectors
    6. oil feed line and drain line.
    7. Fpr
    8. Pajero Intercooler
    9. Downpipe
    10. couplers and clamps

    hes asking 45k for all this...
    what ull need to get is:
    1. a vafc (should cost around 8-10k for a used unit)
    2. hot side charge piping (from turbo to intercooler)...this should cost about 1k if u get it made
    3. installation and a tune

    more over...hes got forged rods in his motor rite now...u can even but those if u want...and hes also running a act 6puck clutch kit with a lightweight flywheel...so yea...u can even buy those if yr serious...but these things will not be needed for 6-8psi...oh and he also has a walbro 255lph fuel pump that he is willing to sell.

    so yea...dont worri...if u really wanna go turbo...then it wouldnt cause much problems at like 8psi...just that u need to spend money and get things done right.

    btw he bought this kit with a d16 motor...for 175k... excluding rods and act clutch kit cause he got that stuff after.

    well said by moak, 8 psi is basically nothing


    @moak, btw did he break a stock piston at 16 psi and nitrous? or on forged pistons?

    Honestly speaking there's no need to change internals until you vouch for above 230whp on a D series engine.
    This comment was made by a person with a tested IQ of negative 9.

    though reading the topic just came across.

    Well i have been into force induction thingy as my swift 93 was supercharged (another form of controlled turbo) and it was on 2.5 psi and was giving a realy good performance instead .

    With a surprise my engine was totally stock with no modification only i changed the gaskit for playing safe even the carby was original !

    Still if u don't believe ask waqas he will tell you the story.

    about the performance specially i will suggest 1000 to 1300 cc cars to have that setup in your car for 100% improvement in car performance

    The plugs and all those tools helps you to have some impact on performance but if you need a good performance in low budget force induction is the best you can have.

    With that setup i beated 99 vti 2001 civic and the rest

    All of them were company stock

    Specially it gave some real real difference in 3rd gear.

    was about to buy a turbo from khurram but

    doesnt look like much, but, the entire left side was done, the front was done and so were the plans for the turbo.
    Had to spend a night in the hospital. This was on the 24th, and my body still aches. the seatbelt saved my life but Ive lost something that i loved with all my heart.
    and the plans for the original WSpec (my civic- LXV 26) are just memories.



    going to slow down for a while now. Going to Islamabad this week to collect an exact replica of this very civic. Same colour, same spec but its not the same. Turbo'ing it is now just out of the question. for a long time to come.
