a low boost setup will not end up in opeing the head, or breaking the pistons... i dont know where that came from.
u can run 8psi safely on yr motor...that is if uve got a complete kit
a friend of mine just took his kit off...and is deciding to sell it...
hes took it off because he boosted 16psi with it along with 60shots of nitrous..and then he broke a piston..
since he got the engine rebuilt hes been having wiring troubles and is not able to set the car.
if yr intrested then his kit inculdes:
1.KKK k24 turbo with adjustable wastegate
2. Turbo manifold.
3. Cold side chargepipes (from intercooler to intake manifold)
4. BOV
5. 450cc dsm injectors
6. oil feed line and drain line.
7. Fpr
8. Pajero Intercooler
9. Downpipe
10. couplers and clamps
hes asking 45k for all this...
what ull need to get is:
1. a vafc (should cost around 8-10k for a used unit)
2. hot side charge piping (from turbo to intercooler)...this should cost about 1k if u get it made
3. installation and a tune
more over...hes got forged rods in his motor rite now...u can even but those if u want...and hes also running a act 6puck clutch kit with a lightweight flywheel...so yea...u can even buy those if yr serious...but these things will not be needed for 6-8psi...oh and he also has a walbro 255lph fuel pump that he is willing to sell.
so yea...dont worri...if u really wanna go turbo...then it wouldnt cause much problems at like 8psi...just that u need to spend money and get things done right.
