Honda Siel Cars India earlier today announced the new price structure for its volume model Honda City. The price reduction has been attributed to cost reduction efforts in the supply chain and manufacturing. The prices are effective from today.
The
Honda City which was the market leader in sales within the C-segment all of a sudden started to loose its market share courtesy the
Volkswagen Vento, Maruti SX4 Diesel and the
Hyundai Verna Fluidic. With Ford gearing up to launch the
2011 Fiesta, things were set to get worse. All this because Honda City lacks a diesel engine leaving Honda Siel Cars India with no other option than to revise the price of the City in India. The price cut ranges from
Rs. 44,000 all the way up to
Rs. 66,000.

Commenting on the new price structure,
Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India, said, “
