    Unhappy Toyota corolla gli 2010

Assalam u Alaikum ... I have got a corolla gli 2010 .. The drive is not good .. i also own a honda city 2002 and it drives better than the new toyota .. the fact of the matter is this that when you engage the corolla in a gear and even slowly leave the clutch just as the car is about to set in motion the rpm drops from 1000 to less than 500 which as a result ends in giving the car extra race and a lot of noise .. this makes the ride very uncomfortable as every time you engage the car in a gear after stopping the motion completely breaks and while reengaging in gear the rpm drops instead of incresing ... Is there any way to solve this bcz when i took the car to the corolla ppl they said that this model has an electronic sensor throttle and this is the way this car is supposed to drive ... ? ... :O ..
Can somebody plz help me out ... ? .. Thanks

yes you are right....i am feeling the same problem in my 1 month old GLi...initially I was like WTH cuz i had switched from 2.0D which gives a much smoother ride at the lower ends (typical driving conditions in the city)...gear shifts were smoother....so i thought that i am passing through a transition and I need to re-adjust the wieght of my foot...but still I am struggling....at times feel like i am back on my corolla indus running on CNG....It is absolutely fine when you accelerate in third gear or even four...good response....i am planning to take it to toyota for its first inspection and plan to discuss this....secondly i feel it requires some bit of tune up cuz the smoke has alot of smell of unburnt fuel...and its not throwing water at all in such a cold weather.......riders of XLi's and GLi's please share your views on this....

I agree a 100 percent with you subzwari its very smooth in 3rd and 4th where as in 1st and 2nd the ride is not good ... as karachi does not have very cold weather i dont think the exhaust problem is significant in karachi ...... As for the ride it is worst than my city 2002 which has done about 130,000 km ... .. I have already taken the car to the toyota ppl but they just said that this is as normal as the ride can get and this is a built in problem due to the electronic sensor throttle ... let me know what they tell you ...

959 this problem is from the very beginning ...

yaar have you tried using hi-octane ?
I havn't but once toyota ppl recommended me to use at least 30% HO to get rid of such problem...i see some logic in it cuz the RON 91 or higher is recommended for 2NZ-FE engines....but i have learnt that the typical unleaded offered here bears like 86-87...i havnt poured it since i wanted them to comment on the current performance of the car....
secondly 20W50 oil (factory filled) could be the culprit too...this time i am planning to pour their 5W30 or 10W30 (Tin packing) available at the dealerships...on my other rides i have seen this rendering psitive resultss....
thirdly i feel that idle RPM of 700 is bit less for the ride..it should be 1000....i felt the same hesitation and sluggishness in my 2.0D even when i tinkered with idle RPM and reduced to 800 on some stupid's recommendation....restoring it back to 1000 made a remarkable difference....but that was all manuallly adjustable...

I have numerous times filled up the tank with high octane and once even used some sort of cleaner they gave me to clean the fuel injectors as according to them it was due to impure petrol .... But this just lessened the knocking while picking the car in 1st or 2nd gear ... the main problem still rests with the rpm drop ...

This is how it works on my GLI 2010, you should try Hi-Octane.
