I used to use 20w50 in my indus shape 1.3 carby engine Corolla, and Toyota is still using 20w50 in brand new vehicles.
Go for any reputable oil in 5w30-40 grade like Shell, Caltex, Liqui Moly or Valvoline. I have used all of these oils and pretty much satisfied.

as far as "recommended" grade goes its five in the handbook, 5W-30, 10W-30 20W-50 and their respective temperature ranges are also given

if you want personal opinions or synthetic/ mineral argument kindly use the search feature of the forum this has been discussed in detail hundreds of times.

but as a simple answer to your question, no it's not good, you can do way way better than this grade even when sticking to oils that are available at toyota 3S

Over here in Islamabad, Toyota Islamabad Motors only has 20w50 and they say if you use any other oil engine warranty will get void.

which dealership? i lived in islamabad for a year form 2013-2014 and used to goto toyota apbhara motors, for a gli i used form them petron plus 10W-30, which is not ideal but still better than 20W-50, they made no objection to warranty, but they were also stressing to pour 20W-50 and made a face when i told them to get 10W-30 from their store room but nevertheless they complied, toyota rawal has no issues with using petrol plus or bringing your own engine oil even they allowed me.

I am talking about this Abpara dealership from where we bought the car. Can you tell me the location of Toyota Rawal? I have bought Valvoline 5w40 for the Corolla and will change it very soon even though the car is just 16xx km driven.

strange, because they definitely have petron plus in stock, they gave me a similar line but when i asked them again they said they will get it for me form the store room and it actually had proper fresh packing and their 20W-50 was looking more tired packing.

toyota rawal is a bit far away its on GT road swan camp, opposite gate to bharia town.

by the way if you intend to go there call before hand and talk to service advisor and ask if he will allow you to bring your own oil, although they allowed me they might not be lenient again, but be a little stressful and then they allow.

Call Toyota Capital and Toyota GT and tell them you want to change oil other than 20-50w and what oils they have. Let's see what they say.

you'll be disappointed then, they are very poor, dirty workshop, and for some reason whenever i went they gave me completely wrong diagnosis on everything, an generally i didn't felt like i was in a toyota 3S, more like a normal busy workshop

though you'll be fine for just a oil change,

i am quite confused after searching all the posts available in PK Wheels.
i have checked the authorized dealer of liqui Moly in lahore.
he is giving me 10W40 MOS2 fully synthetic in 4000 rupees, 4 litres.,,,
and 5W40 fully synthetic in 4900 rupees.....
he is also suggesting me to add engine flush first in previous oil to drain all the stuff and then add the liqui moly....

Bhai jaan, kindly tell me what should i do now....
should i go for 10W40 or 5W40????,,, as my car is 84000 km driven and previously used is 20W50 Toyota Petron....
    Please advise me,,,,,,

no need for engine flush, they are mostly gimmicks in my opinion, just change first oil change early like after 4-5k and then keep using for 7k drain intervals.

use 5W-40 thats best, if your engine is in good shape, doesnt consume lack oil nor gives smoke then there are no worries from switching from petron to 5W-40.

we have a 2010 corolla gli which was driven for 136,000km on 20W-50 petrol, we switched to mobil 1 5W-50 for first change and then 0W-40 for changes after that, no issues what so ever and its so far driven 15000km on fully synthetic oils and big big improvement then before.

    go for 5W-40.

liqui moly doesnt have fully synthetic 10W-40, its mos2 one is semi synthetic, go for fully synthetic s it will give better engine cleanliness and slightly better fuel consumption. no harm in 10W-40 its a good oil ratings, best is 5W-40 it will also have latest api ratings.
