Default 11th Gen Corolla (Hornet): An Unlucky Affair

Introducing Corolla GLi 1.3 (Super ECT)
Asalamoalikum respected PakWheel members and guests.
Alhamdolillah, Allah has blessed me with this brand new car after I let
Viper go to its next handler and keeper, after a very satisfying experience of a little over four years. With blessing from Allah (S.W) and friends like you, I hope to make this is a no-nonsense, extremely informative and enjoyable thread just like Viper. This cannot be possible without your support, appreciation, critique, guidance, sharing and participation. So hop in, like and subscribe.

But, the driving experience has not been anything more than average. The only aspect in which this car stands out (at the moment in Pakistan) is its shape.

Those door speakers look sick 👌 👌

They must give a really nice effect to the acoustics of the overall sound.

May I know exactly what your audio setup in the car is and how much it cost you?

Its not that its not a good buy. Its just the tyre profile to go with this car keeping in view it's height (COG) and handling characteristics. A notch up from the OE 195/65-R15 within the same wheel size i.e, 15" is definitely a 205/65-R15 but I would have preferred 205/60-R15 (if there was one available). Not just to reduce the tyre wall height for cosmetic reasons but to get it to be more grippy for cornering. I'm just not very comfortable with too much air in a large tyre wall height.
But that is personal preference and it may or may not apply to you.

Yes, it not only changes the interior look of the car but adds more functionality as well. More than Grande at a fraction of the cost. I'm working on the Grande instrument cluster but it is not going to be in the near future. At the moment I also don't see any point in wasting too much to gain too little. All important information is very clearly displayed in the same instrument cluster.

Yes they do. Down the road, I'll upgrade the sound setup and right now these are just panels with tweeter grills. I installed them as I grabbed the chance of buying and installing these at a very low price. It was a very cost-effective upgrade for non-Grande users because the regular ones do not have these tweeter grills.

Default Bonus Video Coming Up Next

1.3 GLi (Auto)....Slow? Sluggish? Under Powered?

Got the tank almost full at PSO Pump near Foreign Office Islamabad. Headed towards Monal restaurant with a bone-stock "Hornet" to settle the issue once and for all. Two people (total 150 Kgs), weight of the fuel in tank (Approximately 45 Kgs) and AC (put on after almost 4 minutes into the roll) to simulate additional load and drag on the engine. Please note that this is not about the Hornet competing against cars with higher displacement of 1.8 and above. Its about how well it can do and how well it can sustain while doing what it was made to do.

    Corolla &quotHornet" -1572203

Video being uploaded on Dailymotion covering the entire ascent. Find out yourselves. Those willing to buy the 2014/2015 GLi 1.3 Super ECT can just take my word for it, book one right now or enjoy the video, believe your eyes and then go get one.
