Default Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus

    Assalam O Alaikum!
Owning both Suzuki Cultus Carburetor & Efi models, I decided to share my experience on Pakwheels.

    Basic Information:

Suzuki Cultus as we know today is the 1992 model of Suzuki Swift Introduced in Pakistan sometime after 2000. It was basically introduced with a 3- Cylinder G10a Engine also familiar in Suzuki Khyber. It took some years for the taste to develop and by 2005 a vast number of Units were sold. In 2007, Paksuzuki introduced an Electronically Fuel Injected version of 4-Cylinder 16 valve G10b Engine. Having gained popularity, Suzuki Cultus gained the greatest market share in most sold Hatchback after Suzuki Mehran.

    Reasons For Success:

1.Large Leg room: Suzuki Cultus has the most leg room in the 1000cc Category.
2.Easy & Cheap Maintenance: Suzuki Cultus has the G10 Engine Which can be easily maintained.
3.Futuristic Looks: Nobody can guess the design is dated back to 1992,Cultus definitely has smart looks.
4.Highly Dependable: Owners approve whether Cultus Never let them Down
5.Good Performance: Power:Weight ratio of Suzuki Cultus is very good & Helps in Smooth Acc. & cornering.
6.Resale Value: Suzuki Cultus is a Hand-on sale with minimum or no loss at all, and is sold easily.

    My Experience:
The most Ghareeb Nawaz car of Pakistan, parts are so cheap, and the performance in return it gives is amazing. It will never let you down even in harsh rainfalls or Desertic Heat. It wont even complain. The engine is quiet and Efficient. As you Use the car, You will hear the Engine wail in protest but will never stop.

    Comparision:
Now for the comparision, the next few posts will compare the Efi & Carburetor Model of Suzuki Cultus!

    Lightbulb Engine comparision

First Lets Compare the Engine OF the two cars.
Suzuki G-Series Engine came out first in Mid-80s associated with what we call Nowadays "Suzuki Khyber". Perhaps it was a ground Breaking release and success of Suzuki Followed. Suzuki Made the engine completely out of Aluminium, Resulting in light weight BUT the engine gets damn hot very easily and Gasket replacement follows. But Although these engines do not produce much HP, they have good amount of torque! Now we compare the Carburetor engine which is Suzuki G10A & the Efi Engine G10B.

Lets take a Look at the 993cc Carburetor 3-Cylinder G10A Engine:
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453021

As you can see, It is a pretty simple Engine with only 3 Cylinders and Ample room. I like the simplicity as much as the local mechanics do, because they can easily repair this simple but reliable engine. A large black Carburetor intake is seen Attached to it which is a bigger size than we usually see.

Power Output : 48 hp (36 kW) at 5,100 rpm (um...)
    Torque : 77 N?m at 3200 rpm (wow!)
    Compression Ratio: 9.5 : 1 (reasonable)

Now we take a look at the 993cc Efi 4-Cylinder G10B Engine:
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453022

Now, we see that this one is quite an improvement with 4 cylinders, A larger Engine Head And ample room because of lack of Carburetor Filter/Intake. Again Mechanics love this arrangement, But Efi cars are no joke to them. They learned out of experiments and wrecked a few cars also! Overall A Better engine with Few improvements.

Power Output : 55 hp (41 kW) at 5700 rpm (better...)
Torque : 79 N?m at 3200 rpm (nearly no change)
    Compression Ratio: 9.5 : 1 (reasonable)

Now You Guessed it Right, the winner is G10B Engine of Efi Cultus, Not only because of more power, but also because 3-Cylinder Engines are slightly unstable and they Vibrate Vigorously. Our Carby one is at 150,000 and you must see how violently it is shaking while Indling. Result? Whole car shaking and nuts needing Tightening...
But! The competetion is on... and lets see if our Carby Cultus if up to some good or not...

    Default Dash board comparision

Dash Board in Suzuki Cultus is very similar to the one We saw in Margalla Plus later models. I think there is no second opinion that the Dashboard is a sleek and stylish peace of art with satisfactory quality material. However, seats could had been much better quality as they have been fitted by Paksuzuki. Orignally, Cultus came in a beautiful Light Blue Fabric Seats & Upholstry and If one could buy black covers from market car would spice up. BUT they introduced some changes along the years and right now it is some unattractive Blackish shade.

Have a look at the Carburetor Cultus Interior which I find better than 2010 Cultus I own....
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453032

I personally liked it simple and black. I leave the judgement to you. Armrest is what we miss the most and I have installed aftermarket one in Efi Cultus.

Now Notice the Silver Garnish they introduced in Efi Models...
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453034

I miss the old configuration. That is why I have rated Carburetor Cultus Ahead than Efi in Interior Designing. Your personal Opinion will be valued about what you think.. For Now, looks like me and my relatives (we are called 'cultus family' ) think that Carburetor Cultus Won over Efi just by Simplicity.. (Keep it up Granny! you are not bad than Efi version!)

Personally Speaking, I am really attached to the Carby Cultus! The way that car helped us! 2005 model and I remember one Monsoon, Water up to 3 feet standing and this baby wailing for oxygen... Car loaded with five people and we are praying and almost crying... Father saying Keep it up! Keep it up! car roaring in water. That day, we got Home alive because of this car!!

Again, I remember the Trip we took to Larkana in this... Wham! Idiot drunk Corolla Walay! Screw them! my father Shouted and raced up! as we chased them, surprisingly, engine was like wanting revenge. My Father Dodged this Corolla and it went straight into a truck...Police Arrested them!

    Default Exterior comparision

Well, I need to give Paksuzuki credit here, because they have changed the exterior more than a few Times. So I have listed Appearances Under Carburetor Engine Separately & Efi Engine Separately. Beauty lies in Observer's eyes & I leave the opinion in your hands for which you will vote.

    Carburetor Models:

    1989:
This is where it all started. Pretty simple, with Black Color in spaces between Windows & Orignal Margalla Type Front Lights. From rear also, I will not much admire it personally.
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453037
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453038

    2001:
Paksuzuki takes a huge step into automotive Industry by introducing Suzuki Cultus (based on Subaru Justy) with 993cc Suzuki G10a Engine & attractive Price. It will still take some years for the taste to develop, but it will have a lasting effect. Striking & Friendly looks were sure to attract customers. Well atleast most of them did not know it was just Suzuki Khyber With Changed Body Parts until 2007!
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453058
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453057

    2006:
Paksuzuki Kept The same Cultus but added Crysalline Lamps & New Grille. In my opinion, the best version of Cultus They made.
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453059

    Efi Versions:

    2007:
The Same Pure Cultus with a Touch of Efi Engine and Chrome colored interior Garnish. New Sporty And Agressive Bumpers replace Friendly ones. Blue Shade Coming in Lights. Well Going, Paksuzuki!
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453105

    2010:
Same year we Brought Another Car for Family Needs, and Guess which car it was? Simply said, we could not trust any other car in the world except this one. This year it had A new Ugly Front Grille and Not so attractive rear lights. along with new side Patti. All I ever learned from Life, that well, Looks can be decieving sometimes but its the inner Beauty that matters the most!
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453106
Comparision Between a Carby Cultus & Efi Cultus -1453107

So this is what Cultus Has been through to put itself in Pakistani market's top Position. People Should understand Cultus is truly built for Pakistani roads!

the efi one has better acceleration but the carby has better top speed due to the absence of a rev limit.

i would take the carby one over the efi but thats just me

Above 4000 RPM, the carburetor one shouts like a roaring lion! I think Rev. Limiter is a nice step because G10 Series engines are not designed for performance! at least the heat they produce tells me.

btw the efi one has a bigger alternator, stepper motor can also be installed

but if you see the ff cng setup of a carby cultus, it is perfection (atleast as good as it gets for a carby car) the air filter box contains the cng injector, no messy pipes, the stap is installed under the dashboard

HAHA! thats why you can use pressurized water to clean the engine with water! Do that to an Efi car and you will suffer.

For an aam aadmi, efi one should be cheaper, carby one requires more maintenance.

You have to know how the carb works to keep it fit, mechanics here do not understand it.

But the carby can be tuned for performance or economy.

Efi ones are definitely cheaper to maintain but The Quality of Materials have also decreased. I noticed that the Doors in Newer Cultus are very light & old ones had thick and heavy doors(once they saved me from Truck Collision in Bhains Colony)

I Will also compare dependablility as my 2010 Cultus behaves like a spoiled child even if maintained good. Stock Cultus Delivers satisfaction too. Well, Efi engine Does have some Starting issues as I faced some time earlier.
