Brothers,
I stumbled across something fascinating.. A company called DevToaster has developed an iPhone app called 'Rev'.
You can hook the iPhone up with the ECU of your car via WiFi through a dongle-like device that connects to the OBD II port in your car (there is a choice of 3 such devices - three companies that have collaborated with DevToaster on this App/Device package)
I found this to be an amazing application so I thought i'd share it with you guys. Can be used to create vehicle profile and provides you with a wide array of information including wheel horse power, RPM, fuel consumption, fuel pressure, temperatures, air fuel mixtures and so on.
And yes, the app appears to be much more powerful then a tacky one - in fact it seems you can pretty much do what you can do with one of the professional OBD toolkits, with this app thanks to its capabilities of extracting numerous metrics from the ECU and diagnosis function. AND YES, it check and reset engine error codes (the darned check engine light) and a bunch of other real-time data monitoring options that will leave you jaw-dropped and drooling if you're like me.
Here is a link to the app on the iTunes store:

And here is a video of a guy who has connected the iPhone using one of the three devices - The Kiwi Metrics Transmitter by PLX Devices - the device establishes a WiFi connection which enables the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch to receive and manipulate the data.
