Hello guyz,
done with wiring, roof and foot boards, car has progressed alot. Guys more parts required specially headlights button.
@ Zee82
The speed with which you have restored your Beetle puts me to shame. Makes me wonder what the hell was I doing spending almost a year and a half on my Beetle.
Speed aside the Beetle is coming out nicely.
MASHAALLAH ... nice project
rizvi and scorpio thanks
sometimes it happens with attitude mechanics.... this time i tried new one so had results in weeks
Some more progress... this time front suspension, rear shocks, brakes and point. we started servicing the brake drums and found many in bad shape. then we got to know that rear shocks were dry, so got better ones. the hissa ball joints were really a mess, changed with another suspension from another car. now with all these changes, drive is really smooth and petrol consumption is also ok. next stop is bringing engine down and degrease it, then some work on gear hmmm maybe some refinement to make it smooth. guys i went to pappu other day, he has some really good parts this time, maybe he got three complete cars from scarp....people requiring parts should rush....rest any feedback is welcome... i found some really interesting white circles for tyres in bahu mohallah but they were for suzuki dabbas... they were of 13" size only... the guys told me to go to gawal mandi in pindi and check there as they have these there in 15" size... anyone visiting pindi should check these for me...thanks guyz
all things considered that is a great resto job,.. .many will have their reservations on one thing or another but all i can say is that you have saved this car and it is great that she'll be running strong for many years to come.
BRAVO!!
thanks storm....
some work on carburetor, changed the complex generator to original configuration, tested it on 80MPH for 20 minutes and engine never gets heated...yahooanother achievement is that we changed accelerator cable, i was not able to push engine to maximum due to rusty cable...so now more power and fun running this car,
new engine mounts installed, new brake leather installed, engine was removed, cleaned and added the missing parts, new genuine engine rubber seals installed with complete timware... new brazillian fuel pipes installed, new fuel filter installed, replaced clutch plate, new Brazilian silencer kit installed along with tail pipes, car is very smooth now and technical things seems to settle. today i removed the door hinges and installed leather pieces to stop the wide movement of door.... mashallah it is my daily ride to work now...
i'm loving this thread and having seen your car in person when it was parked in F-6 i can truely say that it has had a quick turnaround.
Sprint on motorway to Peshawar... no comparison with any other car...
engine position, distributor cap changed, fuel pipes changed, fuel filter added, and many other minor changes... now waiting to add that conversion plate to install my carb on 1300 manifolds...
simple yet awsome project. keep up the good work
nice car drive with care waiting for more pix
thanx jim, will inshallah post more soon
More Parts Pouring in
you need to seal that hole in the bottom tin to prevent heat up and also get some steel stamped to install under the cylinder barrels if you are missing them, it aids in cooling the engine.
