Project Vario is here. It is a mini restoration project and I would be posting pictures of the car as it gets in shape. Let me give a brief introduction/history and condition of the car and the plan I'd be following.
Introduction:
Got this 2004 Honda City Vario with CNG at a very very cheaper price from some politician in Multan. The car has been treated in the same way they treat our country; roughly! I didn't see the car when the deal was being made. As a matter of fact no one did and it was a complete surprise.
Anyhow, when the car reached, the only good thing in it was its single digit registration number and nothing else. Rest the car is in very bad shape. So I'd be bringing it back to its shape if she has to stand next to the other cars in my garage.
Condition:
Exterior:
Even in the darkness of night, I could easily identify the parts which have been painted and painted really badly. Then there is some body work as well. The rear lights are cracked and therefore full of dirt. Same is the case with the head lights. The wind screen is cracked as well. The bumpers are not in shape and the fenders are not aligned. In short, every single piece of the body needs some treatment.
Interior:
Though the plastic covers are still on the seats, the interior is in pretty bad shape as well. The dashboard is broken, the console boxes don't open, the gear garnish is broken, power windows need servicing, and other tiny things that need attention.
Engine and Suspension:
The driver who drove it all the way from Multan said that it's gear is not working properly and has to be changed. I didn't agree with him as I found it alright. The issue is with its tuning which is confirmed by my mechanic. Suspension also needs massive work according to him.
Plan:
First things first; new windscreen has to go in place first followed by engine tuning. The CNG kit would be serviced as well along with it. Once it is tuned, the mechanic will look for other issues related to the engine.
Then it is the suspension. Shocks would be replaced followed by the damaged boots and rubbers of the suspension. Each and every part would be checked.
Once it is mechanically fit, the exterior and interior would be restored. After consulting my painter, I would most probably go for a complete shower to return her the original look and shine in paint. Other "shashkas" would be done accordingly.
So, the experienced members can help me in various things throughout this project. Constructive suggestions are what I would be looking for. Any ideas for modification are welcome but I'd prefer the stock look for this shape at least.
I request everyone to keep the thread professional and not let it lose its purpose. I hope the thread proves to be helpful for many.
