    Default Pajero or Prado--which one is better(Experts Plzz)

    For a change my fellow pakwheelers... lets get out of corolla civic wars and put our views to finalise which of these (Prado or Pajero) is the best!!! As nowadays many are opting 4x4 SUVs ....

    Why from 1986-1992 Pajero was the hot favorite and now the Prado... I guess both are arch rivals if given chance to
    tested against each other... which one do you pick???
    keep all the factors in view -- the off roading capabilities... economy... luxury and accessories... price and maintainence and all round performance..

    Here are some videos to make a view of both...

    There is a 3.5L petrol in Lahore, 3 door, mint, mk3. I fell in love with it but the demand was over my budget. 25 lakhs, but my dealer friend says it can be had for about 20. I think it was a 2002 or 2003.

    Mitsu: just give me the hollar please if you find something worthwhile, if I really like it and you give the nod, I'll pull the cash through. Cheers.

    Re: the parts issue, do you find parts for the 4M41 locally or just for the 4M40?

    @sami_voodoo

    address4M41 was never imported by the authorized dealers( WORLDWIDE n DEWAN motors) in pakistan....only the 4M40 landed officially. Though 17 units( was lucky enough to get hold of one) of Mk 4s were brought in by DEWAN in '08 with 4M41 but the company went bankrupt(for their malpractices not related to MMC) after that and to my best knowledge none have been imported since then as the price now for a 5 dr GLS is 9.7 MILLION PKR. Runnning parts like filters, brake pads etc aren't an issue. Since it has clocked under 10K so far and is still under warranty, I am not to much worried. Alternatively, and for other other outta market MITSUs I have, AL-HABTOOR UAE never fails./addressaddress/addressaddress/addressaddress@RKR/addressaddress/addressaddressYeah bud, that one is a gem( so I've been told).....is that a GDI???( unlikely to be MIVEC). Don't get too much carried away if its a GDI.....though revolutionary, the tech failed to impress most around the globe due to high maintenance costs....Perhaps @sami_voodoo could shed some (as usual valuable)light!!! Keep looking for the 3 dr....these things sometimes turn up as the aunt you thought was dead!!!/address

    Mashaallah she looks very nice! As for the price, I was looking at them the other day, and I had the wind knocked out of me (to put it nicely). Ours was taken care of by Worldwide in Pindi and then Islamabad all the way upto around '95 when the workshop manager Mazhar left. After that, it was a selected few mechanics that took care of it, until I became good enough to lay my hands on it.

    As for the GDI tech. It was designed to reduce consumption by charge stratification - rich pockets of fuel burnt in an otherwise lean mixture. Here's a link that might explain a bit:

    GDI

    In plain English? Going for GDI on the premise that you'll greatly reduce fuel consumption will leave you disappointed.

    Cheers!

    Too good man, I have to say that your pic proves how unique and gorgeous it's styling is. Have you got front or rear diff locks on it?

    As for the 3 door MK2, I hope a lot of dead aunts resurface soon

    Thanks....you certainly have the MITSU streak! The MK4 is cool but my personal fav is the MK3 '99-'03...much better contours/bumpers/fog lamps/rear bumper lights( all these features were lost '04 onwards)!!! All MK3s are also much roomier than the MK4( hardly any appreciable difference in general size but you'd only notice if you sit in both turn by turn and they are parked alongside). Nice link on the GDI. Back in '01( when the scalp upthere wasn't that gray) purchased one( a Galant GDI).....very jazzy for its time but made a strange KNOCK sound everytime I fired her up....pretty frustrating....and this never stopped even on hi-octane. Despite the extreme good looks and road hugging qualities, sold her UNREG on the first best offer....(within a week)!!!!

    @ raohamid.

    Thanks alot brother. Well this is a Land Cruiser II, 1995 model. First owner. Its KZJ77 . It originally had 1KZ with manual transmission but then I swapped 1KDFTV engine. unfortunately it didnt work. So again I swapped the lastest version of 1KZTE (with Electronic Throttle Control) mated with auto tranny. Its actually a daily driver with excellent pick even with 33 inch tyres. The rims are 11 inch wide. Still it does 0-100km/h in 11.8 sec with auto trans.

    '78 to '90 Galant Sigma GS 1.6 with Twin twin-choke carburettors, then '90 to present L044GV. So yeah, I've only seen Mitsu's in the family . Of course, there was the odd Land Rover 88" SIII and Isuzu Trooper with the Galant, but they were office vehicles, so they don't count. I agree about the Mk3, or as I call it, the first gen with IRS. As for the knocking sound with the GDI, I can't really say as I haven't had any personal experience with them. Maybe it's peculiar to direct injection?

    Excellent topic, By reading the posts of MitsuMan, RaoHamid and few others I am really impressed the knowledge you guys have.

    Well if you guys ask me I am a full time Fan of a Pajero, its not that I don’t like other SUVs but I find Pajero the most comfortable Suv. I have driven non stop to Lahore and even Islamabad from Karachi I never felt fatigue or any kind of tiredness.

    Now that's very flattering.....with the interior shots you'd probably be doing Ms.Kiddman or Ms. Roberts!!! Get those snaps for you on sunday as they stand draped presently(and probably, after 37, you need to cool down that 'barrel' of yours!!!!)

    @sami_voodoo

    Yup, so do I. It was one single knock as you fired her up....rest she'd run like a dream! Seen others also doing this.....probably something to do with octane rating here in the land of the pure!!!!
