Default Engine Oil ZIC HiFlo 20W-50 or Havoline Formula 2

    Asalam o Alaikum,
I have bought Suzuki Mehran 2005 (Registered Sep 2005). Immediately after purchase, I change its Engine oil (ZIC HIFLO 20W-50) the millage of car at that time is 38,000KM.
Now i have to change engine oil as car travels nearly 3000 Km.

I hear from somebody that prefer the engine oil of that company whose Petrol stations are available.
Please tell me that i continue ZIC HIFLO 20W-50 or i shift to Havoline® Formula 20W-50.

Also tell me the recommended Interval of Change engine oil.

    Suzuki Mehran-2005/Brand/Interval of change
    Suzuki Mehran-2005/ZIC HIFLO 20W-50_______________________
    Suzuki Mehran-2005/Havoline® Formula 20W-50_______________________

Also tell me that for old engines (As i have 2005) the engine oil 20w/50 is better than 10w/30.

Senior members, Please give some comments.

    Best regards,
    Usman

For old and small engines as well as the climate we have normally the 20W-50 oils are good...even for older cars. But as far as mileage is concerned 2500 to 5000 km is a decent time/range when you should change oils. Another better choice is to consult your owners manual!!!

Zic hiflo 20w50 is very thick for a civic. Use caltex havoline formula 10w30. use it till 4000 kms and observe for any reduction in oil level. If there is no reduction, then next time shift to shell helix hx7 5w30

20W-50 is the very heavy engine oil and its not fuel saving either. Lot of people don't know, but this oil is even not recommended any passenger car. Even the Suzuki recommends to use 10w-40 of older grades for their vehicles.

Honda recommends 5w-30 for Civic & City.
Your car is 10 years old, but still you can use this oil without any problem. Can give try to Shell HX7 but carefully check the viscosity as 5w-30. And keep checking the oil level with dip stick. If it reduces more than normal, then change the oil company but not the viscosity.

Oh, thanks dear. But now I am worries about my car. The previous used ZIC HIFLO in the CITY 2006 idsi, now a week back I changed the oil with castrol magnatec 5w30, which is fully synthetic. Now I didn't know that he was using HIFLO and it's mineral. Now switching from mineral to fully synthetic, does it pose some risk to the engine? As i bread somewhere on the PW forum that one has to get the engine cleaned off the mineral, in order to use synthetic one. What to do now? Should I flush this oil out?

Castrol magnatec 5w30 is not fully synthetic, it is semi synthetic. No need to drain the oil. Just observe for oil reduction. Oil level should not drop

Ohh, I didn't notice it, yeah it's blended oil. Yup will see for the level.
So means I should continue using this one forwards or should switch to 10w40 grade which I think is fully synthetic?
Here in interior Sindh, weather conditions are hot around 40 - 50 degrees C and my car is older, 2006 n is ran 52k km. I have read that older cars should use higher grades.
So should I change next time with castrol magnatec 10w40, and if yes then, engine flush is needed then or not?
Sorry for asking such questions but this automobile world is too vague to understand for me.
As I go deep to learn about it, it gets deeper.

Stick to this level becoz castrol 10w40 is also semi synthetic. 5w30 is better. Stick to it as long as it is not reducing oil. If it reduces oil then shift to 10w40. 52000 kms is nothing bro. Its not that old
