Honda Civic iVTEC - M/T

I am considering to buy Civic iVTEC M/T (Entry level Civic); I am surprised to know that there is no SRS in this whereas Altis M/T (Entry level Altis) has (Source: Honda | Pakistan | CIVIC | Specifications) I visited Honda 3S dealer; they didnt had this variant in display. Can someone confirm this?

How you guys rate this variant especially from the resale point...I am intending to keep this for atleast 3 years

This version also doesn't has side mirrors with integrated turn light; not that big deal; but curious; can I replace them with VTi Oriel one? If yes; any estimated cost?

There is no keyless entry; I heard that keyless entry mechanism is built in all Civic; its just they dont give you the special key and it can be bought seperately? If yes; how much it would cost me?

Lastly; how is its ground clearance comparing to Altis? The slope in my house' drive way is quite steep; Altis climbs it up marginally; any suggestion how to resolve this issue from those who faced similar situation?

go for prosmetic if you want good resale, civic manual is not hot cake.

I am confused; I can get used Prosmetic; or this new M/T...Getting used prosmetic (say 2009) and then selling it after 3 years (resulting 5 years old) would hurt more or selling 3 years old 2011 M/T would hurt more?

I dont have budget to invest more; unless I keep the car unregistered for 2-3 months!

Civic i-vtec is a good choice.Ground clearance is fine for our roads and speed breakers on highways but on steep speed breakers car touches the ground but not too much it happens only when all 5 persons are in the car otherwise ground clearance has no issue.
And Vti side mirrors can be put in i-vtec but don.t idea of price.
About keyless entry i have visited honda canal motors and they are offering in 15,000 that comes in vti.

anyone who has recently sold 2008 model of this variant? How much absence of sunroof and prosmetic hurt the resale?

iVTEC civic sucks at resale and as you correctly mentioned, lacks airbag. The oriel variant civic has much better resale which is even better than that of Altis. You can replace side mirrors but they cost around 50k. The keyless entry also wouldn't cost less than 20k though I am not sure about it. Ground clearance of civic is definitely less than that of Altis and if its an issue then forget civic.

in civic, i-vtec manual and oriel prosmatecs have better resale than the ivtec manual and oriel manual. Top of the line n the entry lvl!

i suggest u go for a sparingly used 08/09 vti oriel prosmatec and enjoy it for 3-4 years and then sell it off and i do have a very strong feeling that the I-vtec variant has a pretty lower resale value as compared to oriels and don't forget that "A ORIEL IS A ORIEL" no matter it's 04 or brandnew :D... i so badly miss the sunroof in my 04 vti pros.

Get a used Prosmatec Oriel. It will still drop the minimum resale value and is value for money too.

Few months back i had the following options

1) Brand new Civic i-Vtec Pros with Navigation
2) Brand new Civic VTi Oriel Pros without Navigation
3) Slightly used Civic VTi Oriel Pros with Navigation.

I chose the 3rd option for obvious reasons. Even though i was getting an unwanted color [ie. Silver] still i went for the 3rd option due to best resale of Oriels and the chaska of navigation.

Try to find a clean used Oriel Pros in the market. You will never regret your decision.

I kept the City M/T earlier; I liked its smooth gear changes; much better than my dad' Corolla. I thought I should continue to have that fun in coming years! So the verdict is drop the idea of going for new Civic iVTEC M/T and start looking for some good Civic VTi Oriel Prosmetic deal...

Although there isn't much diff. left in I-vtecs and oriels but still the non-oriel variants look so boring...thats my personal feeling not intened to hurt to anyone

Look so boring? There is just difference of rims and side mirrors...One can get the OEM rims and looks wise it will become same, even same hunder the hood?

i-vtec won't have sunroof plus no fog lights and no oriel sticker at the back and that does make a diff. for me atleast

Practically: we dont need sunroof; fog lights, can be installed...sticker is left which is just status symbol? I am getting the car for my personal use; and not as family car.

And on lighter note; I will be buying the car from my own earned-hard money; not from my dad's pocket. To me it feels insane to spend 1-2 lakhs more for just "status symbol"

for converting a I-vtec to a oriel look alike ull have to spend quite an amount on ur Ivtec which will still be a non-sunroof car with lower resale value as compared to a oriel. and once inside the car ull further notice some changes like no map lights up front in ivtec plus no fog light ON/OFF switch with lights/indicator switches and above all no sunroof and a inferior audio system if ur are to buy a I-vtec without navigation

well, the entry level toyota is xli which doesnt even have power windows.entry level honda is city, which doesnt have airbags itself.

Sir it would be the right decision if you buy manual (i vtec) without sun roof an entry level brand new civic.

Mainly it will drive exactly the same as oriel vairient since we dont quite use sun roof very often in south east asia. And being a manual will be more fun to drive.

Install a security system, you will get the remote. install a touch screen dvd indash system and it will save you around 20 K from the navigation system honda offer.

Install oem or any alloys that you like and u get a very fine car at a competitive value.

ofcource your resale will depend more upon the condition of the car after 3 years instead of being an oriel.

I own a manual 1.8, resale obv. would be less than top of the line variants, but trust me the pleasure of driving a manual, that too the new civic is something worth having, ive had the car with me for 2 years now mashAllah, and i just love the feeling it gives, the way you get to choose between the powerband you want according to your own perspective, thats all what matters, driving pleasure and a bit of fun.
Having said that i would also like to advise to you that if you travel in rushy areas a lot, then get the pros, otherwise if you have a driving route where traffic is moderate or sometimes more than that, then manual is the car for you since you're going to buy it brand new, and its your personal car; auto civic is also a joy, but trust me the manual puts a BIGG smile on your face, sometimes you're just in the zone to play with the gears.
As for the resale, this is Pakistan, im sure after 3-4 years people might get it off your hands for the price you paid for it, or even 20-30k on top of that, 2005 civic's are sold for much more than their price these days, so yeah anything is possible in Pakistan.

Fog lights, not an issue, you could get after markets
Sunroof, just a shashka for 2 3 months, uskay bad im sure you wouldnt even bother using it.
