well, the entry level toyota is xli which doesnt even have power windows.entry level honda is city, which doesnt have airbags itself.

Altis A/T to me is more tempting than Civic Prosmetic due to its tiptronic. But I am bit short of budget from getting new Civic iVTEC Prosmetic or Corolla Altis A/T unless I keep my car unregistered for 2-3 months that may be too risky

I own a manual 1.8, resale obv. would be less than top of the line variants, but trust me the pleasure of driving a manual, that too the new civic is something worth having, ive had the car with me for 2 years now mashAllah, and i just love the feeling it gives, the way you get to choose between the powerband you want according to your own perspective, thats all what matters, driving pleasure and a bit of fun.
Having said that i would also like to advise to you that if you travel in rushy areas a lot, then get the pros, otherwise if you have a driving route where traffic is moderate or sometimes more than that, then manual is the car for you since you're going to buy it brand new, and its your personal car; auto civic is also a joy, but trust me the manual puts a BIGG smile on your face, sometimes you're just in the zone to play with the gears.
As for the resale, this is Pakistan, im sure after 3-4 years people might get it off your hands for the price you paid for it, or even 20-30k on top of that, 2005 civic's are sold for much more than their price these days, so yeah anything is possible in Pakistan.

Fog lights, not an issue, you could get after markets
Sunroof, just a shashka for 2 3 months, uskay bad im sure you wouldnt even bother using it.

BTW experienced bad_cheeta's manual civic few days back. And yes its a bloody monster! I would never want to get my son a manual civic 1.8 ever!

there is absolutely nooooooooooooooo prob with resale,infact the basic modal has better resale...oriel ki resale buri h...basic manual and auto,both hav good resale acccordingly......

In my opinion, Oriel Models (whether they are manual or prosmatic) have much demand and resale than the simpler ones.

So it is worth to buy a oriel model although it is heavy on pocket but SRS is ONLY present in Oriel Models.

Sir sometimes Rs. 185,000 are very hard to manage.

Especially when a person is already shelling out north of 1.7M.

The VTi M/T is as good to drive and own as a VTi Oriel PROSMATEC. A person gets used to of the added features by the passage of time.

after getting to know that the @OP is buying the car for office use and not for family usage then i agree it doesn't matter whether it's oriel or not but if ur buying for family use then DEFINITELY ORIEL

I brought one and it touched miserably at the home' slope Discussed the matter with dad; we agreed to re-plan the slope. Construction work already happening at another location; can spare some workers and material after 10-15 days.

I will try finding some good 2009 or 2010 Oriel mean time. Also lets see what happens with Altis 1.6. A poster claiming there that something will be on display tomorrow. If it comes with dual VVTI I will go with it; as no thoka thaki will be required. My mother is alergic to dust; so will try to avoid it...Otherwise after reconstruction of the slope by mid April, Insha-Allah will have iVTEC

A Hadis says, 'richest is he who is contended with votever he has'. m glad to see you haven't even mentioned borrowing and tend to purchase within your limits. as shared by worthy members above, sun roof, indicators, map lights, all, you won't even notice a few months down the lane. my sister + family have had two sunroof cars each since 2006 but i've seen them use it only ONCE. if you still insist, sun roof would cost you Rs. 20000. no idea about indicators. didn't mention rims because you haven't either.

Your best bet is to get Civic I-Vtec manual, most importantly because you've decided on your budget. Going to Civic I-Vtec Prosmatec would cost you approx. 150K more, which will only get you an automatic drive without any added features that comes in Oriel.
Prices aren't going to come down and coz of that the resale will remain on good side.

the only thing that convinces me to buy the oriel are the dual airbags.rest one can live without the other features.have kept both manual and auto oriels. Both have their own charm,but as im getting older im getting fond of the autos.BTW manuals are always fun to drive.autos for peace+relaxation.

Like I said in the 1.6 Altis thread as well, buying a Civic M/T isn't a bad decision. It mostly depends on how long you're going to keep the car. My family personally keeps the cars for 6-8 years so at the end of that run, we get a fair price no matter what the car.

The only thing to even consider in this whole debate about Oriel and VTi is this:

1) Oriel has airbags. VTi has none.
2) Auto is very and i mean VERY peaceful and relaxing to drive. In fact I doubt once you get used to the chaska of "prosmatec" you'll ever think about driving a manual again. BUT, the manual Civic's drive is the most awesome drive of any manual car in Pakistan at the moment.

These are the only two things that I'm considering if the Altis doesn't launch in the coming few days.

I went through the same decision-making-stage very recently, and I bought the iVTEC manual. What prompted me to make the decision was:-

• CIVIC is going to have new model very soon (early 2012) so it won't look good spending more money on something that is an outgoing model. I will rather save something today to get the new model in coming few months.

• Manual option is more powerful - yet more economical than auto-transmission (I am getting average in the range of 12.5-13kpl)

• Even if the basic model has lower resale than Oriel - the difference will not be more than 200,000/- for a well-maintained car (and this is almost the same difference in original price). So I don't think there is anything to lose.

With fog-lights and RockMars DVD installed and new Yokohama's - I am enjoying my car a lot....
