My new Nano!

I've always wanted a small car to use as a scooter to get around and The Alto 800 just didn't cut it for me. The Alto K10 is great to drive but was just outside of my budget. So i started looking closely at the Nano. I waited patiently till quality improved and most of the initial niggles were sorted out. I spoke to real people who owned Nanos and the feedback i got was encouraging. Sales of the Nano has been steadily rising and TATA Motors sold 8262 Nanos in February so i got brave enough too and went to the nearest TATA dealer and bought one!.

This car cost me RS2,30,386.00( RS2.30 lacs) all included. When i say "all included" this covers Road tax/registration/licence/ 1 yr Insurance and Maintenance Plan and that amount is RS 32,386 of the price. The rest is car cost. What do i get for the money?. The car with air conditioning, front power windows, carpeting/floor mats, tint , intermittent wiper, full spare tire and tool kit.

I think Pak Suzuki should take a look at this car. 1 Indian Rupee is equal to 1.95 Pak Rs. ... so it is cheaper than a Mehran as its price includes all ancillary expenses as well

thats twice Pk rupee price

so it means it will be 4,60,772 Pk price??

what if any one imports it to Pk? then how much cost?

The thingy that surprises me about this car is the amount of space inside. Three adults can sit abreast comfortably in the rear and the front seats are comfortable and adjustable too.

The initial drive impression is i've been scooting around like crazy and loving it. I'm the first in my apartment building to buy a Nano so neighbors and even a couple of the security guys wanted to take a ride in it. The engine is very peppy but a tad noisy though very little of it is heard inside due to the insulation and carpeting. The car has 5-gears and top speed is 120kmph.

What i really like is the turning radius which is amazing. The steering is easy enough to operate(rack and pinion) and i don't feel the lack of power steering. I drove my Suzuki Estilo to compare steering and didn't feel the difference. These are ofcourse, my initial impressions.

What will change when i turn in this car for service after one month of driving as required by TATA Motors are the wheels. I've ordered alloys from TATA Accessories for an additonal RS10,000.

'tis India's "Beetle" and is fast attaining cult status over here. Cheap chic. The key is tricking it out tastefully and the modding market is beginning to respond with a range of options as sales steadily increase. A nationwide Nano meet , maybe?. Lots of options to think about.
