the civics front dash was giving a weird sound. it was as if two plastic components were banging against each other. it got worse on a little rough roads and was slowly getting worse with time. We started noticing it after the second week of buying the car. However we assumed that the mechanic will worsen the problem so we never bothered getting it checked
But then we had enough, I took the car to Honda City Sales, Kalma chowk. they test drove the car and pin pointed the exact area from where the creaking sound was coming.
i was told that the car would be fixed in warranty and it's a common problem in new cars.
the dash was opened from the drivers side and some part (encircled in red) was found to be loose. the mechanic tightened it and also opened up the glovebox and put foam between any plastic parts which had the "potential" to cause a problem.
anyway, the mechanic did a good job of putting foam into every place possible- the whole process took about 30 minutes or so.

end result: There's no more sound coming from the dashboard.

1. the rear view camera is very deceptive. It gives a false impression that there's space when you're reversing into a parking spot when actually there's none. the camera view is rounded at the edges and wider in the center which gives a false impression that there's space right behind you. I've used rear view camera's before too but never faced this problem.

I've been having the same problem with an 07 Prius. The rear-view camera can be very deceptive and it seems that there's a lot of space when in fact there isn't.

You took a wise decision, as this car has the same engine as the previous generation and overall the drive is more or less the same at a more reasonable price.
In my opinion when upgrading a civic, always skip a model, then only can you appreciate the changes:)

well as like you i also own 7th gen . and i love tht ride. i do not plan to sell that extremely kept with care.. difference is that car made me an engineer lol.....hahahahhaha.i got 8th gen . i didnt like the new shape. sorry no offence with ur civic.lol hahahahahahaha.

yar omar bro did u ever tried full throttle (accelerator) in 1st or 2nd gear , if yes how much ur needle of rpm touch ?

today i tried may time of my car it shifts its gear on 6.5 rpm , i lil disappointing i was thinking it will touch 7 or 7.5.

n what is the milage of ur car now ?

No, I haven't. Will do so. Yes, that's disappointing. I guess it has something to do with this particular model , in order to make it more fuel efficient they've limited the rev meter.
It's giving 11 in the city and around 13 on the motorway. No hyper milling anymore, we've got bored of keeping the odometer color in the 'green zone ' the whole time Now it's just a car to get us from A to B.

Hi. Although its a little late but since I saw your thread today I thought I should add this to your and everyone else's knowledge that the 8th gen civic and 9th gen civic have different engines. 8th gen has R18A1 while 9th gen has R18Z1. That's why there is 1hp difference and better fuel economy in 9th gen.

They changed the whole engine just for better fuel economy! That's something we don't see quite often in pkdm's

driven the car 15,300 kms. no problems so far. took it for its free 15,000 kms service and tuning. the brake pads were sand papered, the oil was changed. total cost: 3000

in the 15,000 kms routine service, they change the oil and only service the rear brakes. the braking was a bit unsatisfactory so i got all 4 brakes serviced. now the brakes are better, actually they're better than when i got this car

my advice: get all 4 brakes services. pay extra but it's worth it.

not the huge size of the brake disk... not servicing the brakes in this dusty environment won't do justice

the lower part of the bumper has suffered alot of injuries. despite driving on smooth tarmac. motorway driving maybe (due to loose stones on the road)?

I noticed that whenever i used to exit the ring road from the airport the navigation system would go haywire and would cancel my route (pretty annoying especially when you're coming from islamabad and want to see your average speed and top speed). i asked the honda navigation guy and he asked me to call the navigation company and get a free update. i called the jahur town tracking world office (042111266666) and asked about any update. and they said, yes there's a free update due for june 2013 civics.

you dont need to know the address, just search for "tracking world" in the navigation system and it will direct you to the office. The guys were very helpful there and took just 5 minutes to upgrade the system. the navigation system card was taken out and a new software was added.

result: slightly detailed maps, yet to check it on the ring road.

excellent service so far. i've suffered the honda navigation in my fathers previous car a few years ago and it was a headache (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/non-wheels-discussions/36373-honda-nav-trak).. that worked for just a few months and was totally useless.
