I was approached by our dear and fellow PW member Masroor bhai (aka @autophile) that he had booked his new corolla and that If I?d be up for detailing his ride. Although I stay occupied with my work/home routine but I like to take out time to detail others cars to keep alive the OCD (obsessive compulsive detailer) within.
One of the things that many would think; Its a new car? Why do you need to detail it? Well,
Our factory condition finishes aren?t the best and many that have owned a new car will confirm that the paint surface is extremely rough (mostly due to the paint overspray). If you take this issue to the dealership, they will use a compound to remove the overspray and I am not a believer of re-compounding a finished car and cutting its clear coat. So as part of this detail, the overspray is removed without using any compound and as a result the surface becomes slick and reflections are restored. The paint is further cleansed with mild (non abrassive) cleanser to clean the surface and making it ready for sealant/wax.
During the detail session, Proper car washing and dust removal techniques are taught which are the #1 reason of damage and swirls that you (as car owners) introduce to your cars without really knowing what wrong you?re doing. So proper washing techniques are taught with practical demonstration and also how to remove the dust buildup safely in between washes.
Your car trim (the black exterior plastic parts) which are always neglected by many car owners and infact they tend to apply the car wax on those trims therefore staining them (the white marks that you see). So the trims are protected with a long term protection that blocks the UV rays, repels water and keeps the trim black (and it wouldn't fade even if you car stands in sun 24/7).
Your paint is protected with long term protection that not only protects your car from UV rays and other environmental factors, but also makes your car stand out even when parked to a factory condition sibling.
The car stays cleaner and is easier to wash as the protection put is very hydrophobic with most of the water not sticking to the paint and leaving very less car to dry.

and on and on?
Enough of the reasoning and down to the detail.

TECHNIQUE AND PROCESS:
Wash:
Since the car was picked up from dealership just the day before, so it was in a relatively cleaner state i.e. no stuck dirt. So I gave the car wash with Detailer Pro Rinseless Wash panel by panel and dried it Meguiars water magnet. The tyres and rims were also cleaned with a mild APC/shampoo solution and using a Daytona wheel brush that doesn't scratch.
Inspection:
The car was then inspected in detail and some bad finished areas on the corners of panels were pointed out (poor quality inspection by Indus). Most notable area was that the car was rough to touch and sliding fingers on it showed resistance and that also seemed to be capturing a lot of dust.
Decontamination:
It was then decontaminated and clayed for roughness removal . So nano skin fine grade sponge (clay modern era alternate) along with DP Rinseless wash as lube and the surface was made slick like silk. I even gave Masroor bhai a chance to clay an area himself to understand what i was doing and how the surface was initially so resistant and how it then got smooth.
Cleansing/Sealing:
I then cleansed/sealed the paint with the Duragloss range using a Dual action polisher at speed 3 and a finishing pad.
Waxing:
While I was doing this, I had put up the Collinite 845 into sun so it can take its liquid shape. Here it is taking a sun bath and getting ready.

RESULTS
Enough of the wording and I will let the pictures do the talking. ALL PICTURES BELOW WERE TAKEN BY AN IPHONE WHEREAS MASROOR BHAI WAS TAKING PICTURES FROM HIS DSLR. OFCOURSE NO COMPARISON BUT I THINK IPHONE?S CAMERA DID A GOOD JOB TOO (AND POSSIBLY MY DETAIL CAPTURING ANGLES AS WELL BEING A DETAILER HELPED). WITHOUT FURTHER ADIUE, here are the final results:
