@bugzy
congratulations on the wedding. as for the car, everything is built to a tollerance and it's possible your point/arm was faulty.
as for the fuel pump,.. why does it have an electrical one? the mechanical one should be enough. i know how annoying it is to have to crank the car alot ot start if once it has been standing for a few days but i don't think it warrants an electrical one. do note that with an electric fuel pump with unknown origins you MUST check the pressure ratings and ideally you should install uprated (stronger) fuel lines so that they may handle the added pressure. same applies to your fuel return lines. this setup is exactly what the fuel injected VW's had as the original (carb model cars) lines were not strong enough to handle the pressures involved.
now for the oil leak,.. over time all rubber parts harden, this is because the vulcanization process never stops once it is initiated. i've heard of oil leaks from the boots, but not sure which oil it was (engine or transmission). i'd suggest you take this as an oppertunity to get most maintainance work done to your car (consider it an annual checkup). i recently had to change the boots on my 1303 as well,.. you shoudl be happy though, the swing axle boots are easy to find, IRS model boots are a nightmare to source (daewoo ones are an idael replacement unit if you can't find original ones).
you must understand that you yourself have said that you used to abuse it,.. adn now taht it has aged a little more it requires more help to keep going. do consider that this car is OLD and if you don't replace parts with new original items the replacment ones will fail quickly too. this is a major reason my 1303 cost so much to build,... i pretty much replaced EVERYTHING, mostly with original or better parts.
when it comes to denting,... we have lousy panel beaters in PK,.. all of them think they are better than the actually are. most are just glorified circus clowns. but it doesn't matter, body panels are just for show, what is moer important is that the floor is perfect, and that everything mechanical is in perfect running order. my 1303 has many flaws on the body, but i'm least bothered, what's important to me is that mechanically (meaning drivetrain etc) it cannot be matched by any beetle in PK.
i suggest you get the mechanicals sorted out once and for all, get the woring checked and then enjoy a few years of trouble free driving.
good luck.
