I am sure Honda will also have a long, hard look at what happened to Santro, Cherry QQ, Chevorlet and Spark.
Brio seems interesting but may be not at 1.2L. Plus its physical (length and width) dimensions are lower than Cultus. The real question they will be asking is:
- What is the market size of this category of cars? (use historical data for similar cars, say swift)
- What percentage of that market will we be able to capture? what does that translate into in terms of numbers?
- Are we justified to set up an assembly line for this number of cars? What will it do the price when we amortized that cost of set-up on these number of cars?
Plus a lot more questions.
What, in my opinion, will make for a good model is a car comparable to Cultus. Relatively larger in dimensions but smaller in engine size, that also works great with CNG and at a comparable price. Only then can you hope to capture (your handsome share of) the market from Alto, Cultus and Swift combined.
