Laptop Advice Needed (HP or Dell)

AOA.......m making up my mind to get a laptop from US within $600.

Now m damn confused these days cuz I cant decide which brand to go for. Kindly help me out for my selection. Here are the specs I "NEED"

CPU: Intel Core i5 (above 2 Ghz)
RAM: at least 4 GB DDR3
LCD: 15.6" LED (not less)
HDD: About 250 GB
Optical Drive: Super Multi DVD-R/RW
Graphics: Dedicated (around 256 MB)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (Ultimate preferred)

additional requirements:
Bluetooth,
built in Web cam
nice built in speakers
Logo that lits up when laptop is on (looks good )

please list the models like Inspiron 15 or PAVILION g6 OR dv6......!! Need to make a decision before May!!

see your budget and usage, secondly I found/experienced compaq (brand of HP) rough and tough. Also add wifi facility in your requirement.

bought HP dv6 for 70k with local warranty specs are
i5 2.26GHz
4GB ram
500GB HHD
16" LED crystal bright screen

also the logo glows

but dell is better you can find a little used xps or studio in this price which are mind blowing lappies

I have both Dell and HP. IMO HP Laptops are very rough and tough. Go for HP. Keep in mind that there are many HP i5s in market and there is 20k difference between their prices although all are i5s. There's processor model difference.

i heard from many people out there who says hp aint good enough dell is best but i havegot 2 hp machines in use of the family members are they are really nice and tough but i have got very very bad experience from dell 3 times in a desktop department but dont know about laptops

i used previously Dell studio and now baught HP dv6 last week....from my experience hp is not good Dell laptops are very very nice infact so never go for hp if you can afford Dell and i think you can, coz dell studio costs 68k and xps costs 86k so my advice "GO FOR DELL" i am going to sell dv6 and ill switch to again to dell or Toshiba or sony

Toshiba are great. Best machines... Sony comes after it. Hp are expensive than Dell. THere are differences series. Don't just compare specs..

i currently own a dell inspiron 1564 (15.6"), & i can tell you bro its build quality is pathetic. keyboard, lid, & deck all bend with slightest of force. a friend own dell studio 15, its the same story.
i'd advise you to go for HP ProBook series, they might seem a bit plain in design, but they've got excellent build quality & ergonomics. new pavilion series of hp is also very good.

i have my experience with sony vaio laptops. If you want your laptop to work for many years without any problems then sony laptops are for you. they are expensive but are better than hp and dell in terms of battery , performance , reliabilitiy etc.

thanks for ur replies..........i have been using a HP Compaq laptop for over 3 years now, and it has never disappointed me. So being satisfied by HP and all ur replies, I have decided to go for HP. But now the question is which model?? My budget is $600, m listing in US dollars because I will buy it from States.

I have made my mind on 2 models. HP Pavilion G6 and HP Pavilion DV6........which one is good. Help me out!

well Wi-Fi is now in each and every laptop!! So i wont term that as a requirement!

@sam007 look out for deals. Deals are coming in summer which would be too good... Dell Inspiron was a very bad choice for me too. It looks too cheap in quality but this is market they are looking for. Toshiba are for pro users. Sony is style + reliability. Acer is still struggling to get the brand label.Safe bet within reasonable budget is Hp !
Make sure you check the series and go for just the specs. COMPAQ is the lowest series i think.

i really liked the Inspiron 15 but after so many negative reviews I decided against it. Now I have narrowed my choice to just two HP models, Pavilion G62 and Pavilion DV6......!!!

Sony is good, but out of my budget!
and I've never liked Asus and Acer.
