Default Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon Owners/Fan Club

The purpose of this thread is to discuss and share views regarding Daihatsu boon/Toyota passo and to provide a common platform for the owners and potential buyers to discuss the car.
Passo/Boon has become quite popular in the last 2 or 3 months. People are getting curious to know about this car which offers better features than the overpriced 1000cc vitz in a better price tag. The purpose of the club would be to share technical / operational information regarding the car. As well as help fellow members with different issues regarding the everyday running of the car. Realistic advices on prices regarding the condition and model of car will be provided.

    - bro its factory fitted tyre size is 155/80/13 not 65, at least in Passo, i m sure its the same in Boon too.
    - if your tyre sidewall is 80, and you install 175/65/13 then it will be 20mm less in overall diameter, so it is never recommended.
    - but if you go fo 175/65/14 , then its just 5mm larger than factory size, so no problem, and width is increased by 20mm, so your car gains more grip on road, better looks, but mileage is a bit decreased.

    - 13km/ltr is ok within local driving, depends on the road conditions, and your driving style.

you may not get all the sizes you want.
to my knowledge, you cant fine 175/80, but 175/70 is available everywhere, check n your area which sizes are avalaible,

    - are you asking about the lever position at the left side of the steering box, or it shows L at the speedometer ?

    - brother i dont have much experience on changing the tyres with different sizes, but most of the ppl say that wider tyres gives more grip but less mileage,
but according to my experience, i have changed my balenos tyres from 175 to 185, i feel almost zero difference in mileage.

    - and no need to woory about the lever position, as you dont have to look at hte side of steering box while driving,
the lever is exactly perfect in its place, cz it has many bents, dont know which one is pointing towards the gear alphabets marked.
as far as it shows correct on the meter, its good.

on isb roads, these tyres are ok, drive with them, and when they retire, then change with softer tyres available in pak.

I will prefer that you attach them with a rear fog light button in dash so that when you press the button the icon of the rear fog light in the speed o meter also lightens,

the wiring of rear fog lights (if present) should be in the trunk, under the right side plastic covering which i opened for rear cam installation some days back.
if the wiring is not present , then i will not prefer messing up with the dashboard etc for button or wiring.

as per my knowledge passo's rear fog lights will ligh up if:
    - rear fog light button is switched ON,
    - and then when we switch on parkng/headlights then the rear fog light will turn ON actually.

but as there is not that much need of rear fog lights here, so i prefer that these rear fog lights should turn ON with the brakes.

so i will install them with the brake light, (bcoz i dont want to mess up its original wiring etc)

actually i have done with the LED installation in the rear fog lights,
have taken some pics, not step by step, but i will help if anyone is willing to do the same.

right now, the lights are ok, im waiting the silicon to be dry and firm, then i will install the lights back in the car, and take final pics, then upload them in an hour or two.

Default Passo Rear Fog Light LED Installation

i have chosen simple LED which is used for parking lights etc, instead of the 1Watt and 3Watt LEDs i bought ( will use them somewhere else, maybe in front bumper fog lights)
i have these LEDs because they are easy to install too.

using camera low contrast n brightness, this is the photo of LED just inserted, not fixed.

and using default camera brightness, this is the foto

and after fixing them , this is the final finishing of the back side of the tail light.

Right now, the lights are not fixed in the car, cz its almost midnight, and i have to go tomorrow to office early in the morning (on sunday too at 7pm), so i have to take a nap of atleast 6 hrs before gng to office.
i will install them after returning from office In sha ALLAH, tomorow evening/night and then post the final pics on installed and working brake/fog lights.

but the red housing reduces the light, so if i install Red LEDs in red housing, the light output wll be very very less, so it will be very dull overall.
