@Nick
I am annoyed to see Hard Rock Cafe as an occupier of the erstwhile tract and book society premises. I hope HRC is featuring great bands to offset that.
Bangalore has changed. Sadly for the worse. I remember my first visit to BLR about 40 years ago. It was very popular with honeymooners those days. It was a serene place with quint streets, road side cafes, live jazz and nightclubs, fantastic booze (tauba tauba !) great steak at the The Only Place (are they still around?) and stately cars.
The social life would revolve around MG Road where a young lad could spend hours gazing at beautiful girls in elegant dresses. Nowadays I see more tarts there who wear bare minimum to technically qualify for the word “clothed”.
But I am happy to note that Bangalore continues to have great night life. In our days Calcutta was the the place to shake a leg. But now I think BLR leads Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh in this respect.
If the government does not address the infrastructure soon enough BLR sure is going to have a messy time ahead. I believe the new airport is a total let down.
