Motorway M1 Hilux Accident 24-Mar-2013

Spotted this while travelling on M1 Motorway, Rawalpindi to Peshawar

Place: Few Kilometers before Jalo Burhan Interchage
Dated: 24/03/2013

The Hilux probably collided with Pole, no other vehicle was effected.
It was heavy showers and almost visibility was zero from inside vehicle, people at scene told us that the vehicle was over speeding. No information regarding driver and passengers but there were causalities.
Ambulances and Motorway Police were on scene.

Driver side airbag was deployed, but no passengers were inside vehicle, it was reported that passengers were ejected during crash, how airbag was deployed then???

What exactly happened is not known

The vehicle was collided with that visible pole, but what happened with right side?

Fire seen in engine, people were trying to collect some bucket for water

it looks pitched inside from right because of thrust .

The left wheel was lying far away, this shows that may be axle was broken and as a result vehicle got out of control, but Allah know better what actually happened.

People told us that passengers were ejected during crash and no one was inside vehicle, it suggests that passengers were not using seat belts, but strange thing was Air Bag was deployed and it was visible, how this was deployed, if seat belts were not used.
Moreover, if seat belts were used, then at least driver should be inside vehicle.

It was too dangerous to get close to the vehicle as engine got fire
We stopped for few minutes, as rush was building up, we decided to go, enough help was available

Holy cow! That's just sad. I hope that the occupant(s) somehow made it.

Please wear a seat belt all times, and make sure your family and friends, whether in the back seats or front, buckle up at all times as well.

I think it caught fire due to short circuiting of wiring/battery

I have seen two accidents of Hilux in single road trip of GT road this ride have quite a loot of power with very less safety features

As per knowledge at scene, no one was in cabin at that time, surely they were not using seat belts, but question is how airbag was deployed ???
