my borthers office driver was exactly next to the truck under the bridge when this hapeend, he says it was a loud noise and then pieces of windscreeens and mirror fall on his car and for a moment he thought that the bridge has come down

Hi.
I was comming from pindi to islamabad what i saw was totaly mad. the driver even kept on driving even after crossing the bridgefor a while.
Few days a go a 22wheeler hino trailer also the same bridge.The problem is not with the driver but with the bridge it self. In the board behind the bridge it says vehical over 15 not allowed but when you enter with higher vehical like 14 or 15 feet your nose enters very well but due the the angle of the vehical in the rear you the rear hits the upper wall thats why 15 foot high dumbers and bedford trucks can cross it but when you have a long wheel base dueto entry and angle of entry the vehical hits the bridge.

The fault is also with the stupid Pakistani construction company and rubber stamp government that allowed for this bridge to be built so low. What's a truck driver to do when he comes to this bridge? Do you expect him to reverse all the way back so he can get off the highway?

There's a thing called common sense... unfortunately it's not so common in pakistan.

this place is very near to my house. normal trucks and car carriers go fine. This one was a double decker with pick up trucks on board.

there are signs all over telling heavy traffic to use service road which i think discharge liability of government. They come handy if someone takes them to court.

There's no doubt the driver's an idiot for even attempting this trick. But that does not clear the government of negligence.

1. That bridge is too low as it for such a huge construction project. It's simply oversight that they did not build a bridge a few feet higher.

2. What good are signs once a trucker is on the road? Can he reverse his way going backwards against the flow of traffic? Once a truck is on this road there's no place to go but straight.

Pakistan's mashAllah progressing really fast, unfortunately we're taking alot of dangerous shortcuts to get to where we want to go. Remember what happened to the "great gift of great leader musharraf - built in record time" overpass in Karachi? They make out of this world claims and then have blunders like this.

the reason they did not build the bridge a few feet higher because truck arent supposed to be on the 9th avenue. The reason of the service roads still being there is for the trucks to use them and for once leave this road for LTV's.

nothing wrong with the construction if the sign says trucks not below 14 to 15 feet.. why take the risk and was the driver so stupid that he didnt even knw the height of his own truck. Obviously he was taking a shorter route as USUAL.

I understand he's not supposed to be there. But building a bridge purposely low is a technique that was popular until the 1970s and is now long gone.

No matter how low you make your bridge, you'll always stupid truckers driving into them. The modern take on the problem is you raise the bridges so you dont get stupid accidents (which are huge problems on busy freeways) and increase law enforcement. Keep police patrols and fine truckers a huge sum if they're not supposed to be where they are. That way you dont risk lives, clog up traffic, waste public resources cleaning up the mess, or have insurance companies dealing out unnecessary claims.

It was the duty of police at the intersection to tell him to go on service road which is exact parallel at a distance of few feet. Now truckers have got their lesson the hard way. Bridge is pretty much the same height as majority. Tough luck

i was also on the spot yesterday. one of the Shehzore feel down from the trailer. Five Shehzores are smashed but there was very litte damage to the bridge.

True i agree... police must take up the responsibility of being at the intersection and not let the truckers get on... or atleast stand a fair distance before the bridges and guide them on to the service road
