I recently bought a brand new wagon R and while I was going through its owner's manual, I was so confused when I read the oil viscosity for this engine. The manual states that for the outside temp of 40C even 0W-20 could be used. I mean I'm so confused bcz that oil is super thin for such temp. Kindly guide me if I should really use such oil viscosity

I have a 2014 Alto new shape and i always go to suzuki for maintenance.
They recommend their own 5W-30 Efficient.
I used to own a 2006 Alto Japanese too and used the same 5W-30 from 20k-100K kilometers and then shifted to 10W-40 ultimate because of high mileage. My car stayed perfect for 5 years and drove it till 132K

new technology engines run on low viscosity for best fuel efficiency .. if you see all JDMs manuals even back from 2012 like mine recommend 0w20 upto 40C temp . they run best on it.

What ever is written in manual is the best thing for your car .. not these mechanics of pakistan who have been working and on and only have experience of engines which are 40 year old technologies.

company walay bewaqoof to nhi ke manual main itni bari ghalti kar dain ... use 0w20 for best performance and fuel efficiency brother. my honest brotherly mashwara

Suzuki's 5w-30 is semi synthetic and that's the only reason why I want to avoid that oil

also see if manual says fully synthetic or semi synthetic .. and use oil accordingly of good brands like kixx , zic, mobil1, etc .

It does not state whether semi synthetic or fully synthetic oil is to be used. Its only states the viscosity and api

Bro, go for any 5w-30, API SN, Fully Synthetic Oil from any well-reputed brand (I won't suggest 0w-20 or 5w-20). The oil must be 100% genuine and original, and I would recommend either ENEOS Sustina or Total Quartz 9000.

Yes I know. If you want fully synthetic there are loads of brands but finding genuine one is sahi wala aukha kaam.
No matter jis bhi shop se lo jitna bhi acha experience ho 99% are fake. Ask any shop to show you import slips. Tax slips. So that you know its genuine imported oil. No one will ever provide you with anything like this.
So thats why I go for Suzuki oil.
And my previous 2006 alto. Drove it upto 132000km using this suzuki oil and never faced any problem what so ever. No loss of pic. No oil burning. No nothing. Didn't spend a penny on my other than oils and filters thats it. I bought it in 2011 and sold it in 2016. In 2016 the car was 10 years old but still perfect in running.
I think its better to go for suzuki oil semi synthetic rather than risking synthetic fake oil

as said by basit .. go for 5w30 as it is recommended specifically in manual .. go for a good brand , kixx(tin pack), zic (tin pack), Total, etc are good ...
better but more expensive are Liqui Moly , mobil1, etc but they are worth it in the long run and their change interval is also 8k-10k KMs .. but you have to get good imported filter for it for long interval .. if you can afford then go for them.

I am also very skeptical about oils at aam shops wagaira ... but buy from authorized direct importers .. you can get contacts from official websites ...
I use LiquiMoly got the importer from official liquiMoly website. i directly buy from him. and buy filter from filter house and get oil changed from them.

although I also trust filter house that they have genuine oils .. its just that they dont have specific LM 5w30 which i use for my car.
