Hi am in the process of buying a brand new 2011 2.0d saloon, Have seen the pictures of the facelift model, just wondering if they will be launching the 1.4 d4d engine soon, Would prefer that.

Anyway I do not then there will be an engine change anytime soon... but Corolla experts might know better.

yes..its a rumour that 1.4 D4D is on the cards for the facelift corolla, but not confirmed yet

but i dont think they will...as the 2c is the succesful one in Pakistan..and indus wld never go fr smthing new!!

Waqastariq maybe you should read the topic question, what did you want a full summary of my original question in the title and if your not a corolla expert, dont go around Criticising.By the way its title not tittle.

Further more i have asked a question on pakwheels, a forum in pakistan, regarding purchasing a toyota model, sold in pakistan, so why would i say purchasing in uk or pakistan. when 2.0d saloon model is only sold in pakistan.

Considering the rising prices of Diesel and how uneconomical 2C engine is, the best thing Toyota Indus can do is to introduce 1.4 D4D engine in Corolla. Also, the face-lift version is about to be introduced with a 1.6L VVT-i engine, i think 1.4 D4D Corolla is also in the making. Rest only Toyota Indus can verify it. If u r really interested in the 1.4 D4D, i suggest u wait till March, 2011 (this is the expected release date for the new corolla.).

How about we see this scenario in terms of market gaining? Hardly anyone buys a 2.0.D now because of unrealistic diesel prices in Pakistan. Diesel was initially meant for economy. To recapture the diesel segment of the market, Indus' introduction of 1.4 D4D engine in Corolla is the best possible move. It will sell like hot cakes.
When corolla was introduced with a 1.8 Altis, Honda also introduced an R18 engine in their 8th Gen. Civic to compete in the 1.8L market segment. This resulted in the 1.6L segment going extinct in the Pakistani Market. The lancer and sunny were unrealistically priced according to the 1.6L segment.
When Nissan started making the Sunny locally (resulting in a lower price), it gave a slight boost to their sales of 1.6L Sunny Super Saloon.
As the 1.6L segment is virtually hollow, an introduction of 1.6 Altis will result in a significant increase of market share for Toyota. So following this strategy, they hav opted for 1.6 Corolla whose production is confirmed.
Regaining the extinct diesel market will require Indus to introduce 1.4 D4D.

i ve myself 2.0D saloon 2009 model....it give me around 550 to 575km per tank 50lt.....i hope the indus motor shud introduce new 1.4 d4d dieseln for better fuel economy as u all know diesel is 82rs per lit n they r not selling any 2.0D saloon like they used to....i bought the 2.0d at the time wen diesel was cheaper than petrol

@vaxim: yes it come with 6 spd manual which also help in fuel economy...its fuel average giving around 58.8mpg
