Either they don't care about the brand reputation or they deliberately don't want to offer a quality product.
Or, they have to pick from whatever suitable model is available from the company they have agreement with, which happens to be this car. I agree it is ugly, but then its success will depend on price and what is available in that price i.e. features, and its reliability and parts and services after purchase.
Another common issue I am seeing with Chinese and locally manufactured Chinese options is lack of automatic. It is common. Automatic is not available in United Bravo, Zoyte, Prince Pearl, Changan Karvaan and plus etc. And the cars they are based on in China have automatic transmissions available mostly. They should offer automatic and at a good price to establish their demand and compete with Suzuki and Kia.
