This is not 7AFE 1800CC engine with better low end torque its 4EFE which is 1300CC or 5EFE which is 1500CC.

You mean 4EFE 1300cc? 4AFE Is 1600cc and this is not 4AFE. Read the engine number it will tell you which engine is it. If its 4EFE that it will start with 4E - Engine no.

annnnd,,,,,dnt use it on low frequency,,,,as the mechanics say,,,,,thy usually ask to run on 48 or 49 to save fuel,,,,,but u should install a frequency meter and maintain the exact frequency of 50,,,,bcz if frequency is low,,,its effects the cooling of alternator or dynmo,,,,,and if its more thn 50 then its dangerous,,,,ur alternator will be burnt,,,,or blown,,,,,use a good quality governor
and for 100% copper alternator,,,,,pm me next time,,,,will help u

Dear i can,t find any branded alternator all are china made and stamped as 100% copper who knows its copper or mixed product.thats the problem.if u know any good place where i can find a good alternator

Total cost on this project is around 130k to 140k.due to we source parts at good will that's why find engine and dynamo at minimum rates.Frame of generator is ready now hopefully assemble it on Monday.inshallah

Brother, can you please inform me regarding the price of this Alternator as I intend to buy one. If I were you then I won’t install an engine size bigger then 800c.c and would even try to go for 600 c.c engine. What I believe that the most critical mistake people make is that they try to install a bigger engine whereas smaller engines can also handle the similar load. All what engine does is maintain a constant RPM and that constant RPM can easily be maintained by 800 c.c engine. At the end of the day, Alternator produces the electricity, not the engine and once you will try extract more power from alternator then the one it has been designed for then every engine will try to increase its RPM in-order for Alternator to provide that extra power. Once extra load is demanded then it should be provided in micro seconds whereas we all know that every engine requires few seconds to increase its RPM. This time difference can easily kill the alternator and no matter what you do, you cannot avoid that. That’s why every Generator runs at one constant RPM. Once you plan to maintain a constant RPM then why install bigger engine. Concept bigger is better is wrong. One more argument is, we know 800 c.c car with entire weight of body and passenger can easily goto 100 km/h. that is a lot of load if you compare this with this Alternator.

This was my understanding regarding the subject. Do let me know if you think I am wrong as it will improve everyone’s understanding on the subject.

yeah you are right we can use smaller engine instead of this bigger engine ,,,,,,,,,many years before i started similar project but wont complete it because of shortage of time ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a guy written above that this engine can deliever 23Hp at 1500 RPM , may be he is right ,,,,,,,,and acording to my calculation this alternator need 17 to 18 HP engine at 3600 RMP ,,,,,,,,,,,,means this engine is more than enough for this alternator,,,,,,,,,,,,cultus engine can gave 48 HP at 5100 RPM ,,,,,,,,,,,,we can also use that as well,,,,,,,,,,,i plan to use F8B engine and add a gear system in between engine fly wheel and alternator,,,,,,,,,,,suzuki bolan gear box can also be used or we can use pullys/belt system,,,,,,,,,,,although this pully and belt system is old fashion and may be not too reliable but still can do the job,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but dear i suggest not to go for that system,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if you need 10 Kw generator then batter buy two 6.5Kw generators,,,,,,,,,,,,,,these 2 generators combine repair/maintance and fuel cost will be lower than this giant,,,,,,,,,,,its not suitable for home use but very good from commercial purpose,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

RPM issue can easily be solved through gear system. All you need to do is maintain proper ratios between pulleys or gears. Such that with engine RPM at 800, you can easily extract 3200 RMP at alternator side. Off-course generator will function with 1800 c.c but this will never be called good engineering.

One more Question.

Why do we need such a high torque engine? Only reason which comes to my mind is so that engine gains the operational RPM as soon as possible so that it may not burn the attached electric load.

Can we install a switch which transfers the power to load once engine has achieved 800 RPM or after delay of 3 seconds to be on safe side? This very thing can save us from the same very problem of burning the attached electric Load.

I have seen, few generators starts sending the current as soon as it starts. Initially lights flickers but after a second it is fine. But again that is not a good design as a small lag can ensure a stable supply.

well the engine Hp directelly depends on RPM,,,,,,,,,,if we are not adding any gear system then we need high torque engines,,,,,,,,,,,,,,like we cant drive the car uphills on 4th gear,,,,,,,,and if we really want to make it posible then we need very very high torque engine,,,,,,,,,by adding gears we make it posible with even smaller engine,,,,,,,,,,,same we can do with generators,,,,,,,,,,i make a complete feasibility of 10Kw generator with 800 CC engine in which i make a pully system,,,,,,,,diameter of all the pullys were carefully calculated in all that ,,,,,,lets see i find that in my laptop or not,,,,,,,,,,,,will try to post that ,,,,,,,

10kw means 10000watts divide it with 746watts and you will get 13.40 hp
it means you need min 13.40hp at 1500 rpm to run alternator..but use a min 5hp up engine for full load usage
gear, pully and belt is not a good idea i have done these all.. but direct coupling is best solution

There are no set rule, c.c and Hourse power are completely different units. c.c is the unit of Volume whereas Horse power is the unit of Power. In good engines 1c.c may correspond to 1 horse power whereas in few engines 256 c.c may even correspond to 1 horse power e.g SHIPS. With older engines, conversion degrades. Car user manual provides the exact ratio of conversions like the engine designed and tested supposedly provides 1 horse power against every 1.5 c.c. Companies perform many experiments and testing inorder to determine these ratios that’s why correct user manual should always be considered.
Secondly, we are taking about the Physical load not electrical load. You cant make the conversion like horse power into watt conversion like you did. Alternator is one thing and Engine which drives the alternator is yet another stuff. If you will take electric load and will try to make the conversion into engine required then it’s wrong.
Actual load which engine carries here is weight of rotor which spins inside Stator. Rotor is like a free wheel of some xyz mass etc 50 Kg. Any engine can easily rotate that with ease. So now try to find out which engine can easily rotate this load and make it reach an RPM with ease.
Basically You are try to convert electric load into horse power but that has nothing to do with the engines horse power needed to make that “ROTOR of xyz mass SPIN” don’t confuse things.

sir we make a generator before with 1000cc petrol efi when alternator takes load and magnetic field in alternator started grabbing the inner shaft load on engine become more and more strong then in result u got fluctuation in volts and when engine take load it starts vibrating that results in a disaster with whole setup.i never recommend 660cc for more than 5kw alternator becoz we have experience it.loss of money and time.better go for the better match.
