I thought so too but I guess people are still facing issues. My colleagues 2020 RS recently had the steering assembly changed under warranty.

Is it just our car or can you hear the wind noise like as if the window is just slight rolled down, on the right side front door. It comes from the top of the door. It's hard to explain but it's like slight whistling sound. Comes at around 100-120 kph

Imports are big NO to the economy. I don't see any decrease in car purchases regardless of price. Pakistanis cry more than the pain generally, thats why we are having the most incompetent management in country

Here's the thing...all of our cars are already imported. They are just assembled here. We have no technical know how, there is zero technological transfer, we cannot manufacture our own car from scratch, we can't even make a functional engine. Generally speaking we should aim to concentrate our manufacturing efforts on those activities that give us a competitive advantage. Add more value in textile. Agriculture. Food processing. All areas where we could potentially make a real difference. The only reason we are stuck with assembling cars here is the auto industry mafia. Indus, Atlas and Suzuki have been making profits for decades, with the addition of Hyundai, KIA and Changan the cartel has only grown but still acts like a cartel. What is the point of local assembly if car prices will rise every 6 months when the dollar depreciates. It's ridiculous, we need to stop protecting this mafia, unfortunately they have the government in their back pocket.

This auto industry feeds thousands of people. No industry would ever be 100% local as far as cars are concerned. Find IMC annual report (easily available on google) and you will notice 50+ local companies manufacturing parts etc. Again there is labor working in all these sectors. Imports will kill all this labor and they will have no food to feed their children.

Does the poor buy cars? Not really, i have issues with government on basic things to be on controlled rates. Unfortunately, nothing is being controlled. Even if an Alto sells on 40 lacs, I will still be against imports...I can be wrong but I can't imagine killing needy people for some stupid so-called luxury. BTW, actual buyers are not impacted...if really impacted? why are cars short? who is buying cars? MG/civic/Corolla/Sportage? all are selling so well. This government is impacting us on basic needs not alone on cars..and in a poor economy like Pakistan, cars should be of least concern.

Car being assembled here do not have all parts imported.

Critical parts are imported like engines but nin critical parts are manufactured. This gives boost to economy
Yes I agree that things could have been better in terms of features, quality but still we should be proud of having local assembly of almost 06 companies and few more in the process of establishing plants.

Specs against the price list given by Honda showroom mentions that push start and smart entry I guess have now been added. Can’t decide between the 2, price difference is around 2.5 lakh but resale wise I don’t know how good a idea it would be which given our market needs to be considered

Someone should do an analysis of the financial value of parts being manufactured here as a percentage to the total cost of the car. What we manufacture here are the very basics like plastic moulding, rubbers, seating, carpet etc. These industries don't only cater to the auto sector, they have customers across different industries. And if they are good they will be exporting as well.

The simple fact is this. The auto industry here is inefficient. It is more expensive to buy a LOCALLY assembled Civic, with horrible build quality, over here than a new imported unit in the Middle East, so kya faida hua assemble karnay ka? In a logical world, if imports were 100% duty free here, CKDs would compete against them on price as assembling locally should give you a cost advantage. Our industry couldn't even survive a bunch of used and accidented JDMs and had to lobby the govt to change the auto import policy. We need to stop protecting this rent seeking cartel mafia. They have absolutely no motivation to lower costs for their customers, offer value for money and improve on their build quality.

Just visit any Honda 3S and observe the type of repairs and maintenance that are going on. Your wrong perception will be sorted.

First of all we must not compare with middle east:. We dont compete with them we take charity and loans from them. Just to get a car, we cannot ignore countless people who work in this industry. Where would u adjust all the labor ? Imports mean 0 labor required practically

Manufacturing does help a lot to the local industry. While we are in very bad economic situation it would only get worse if we start importing everything

Local auto industry players know it pretty well that the govt can not support imports and that's why some of them are taking advantage of the situation by producing low quality trash. i.e Honda Civic.

I do it regularly and know it . As I said , certain parts are manufactured locally while others imported as CKD.

The reason of ckd parts is the nin availability of infrastructure and expertise in local.industry.
