i believe grande and civic X both have different class and comfort level

you cannot compare civic with grande both have different class, even Honda left some bugs in civic

i do have grande there is a hell of difference between them

grande is just a basic model if you compare it with civic sir with all due respect

First of all hats off to creator of this thread . Secondly I have gone through the posts and learned a heap of info​.
Am currently driving a 01 cultus so you guys can well imagine the eagerness with which I would be planning for an upgrade of my ride.
InshaAllah planning to lease as would be able to manage the cost via installments.

Please guide between Civic (Turbo or 1.8) or Grande???
Am inclined towards Civic X because of its light years ahead exterior.
But it's the interior really that pathetic as some people have mentioned???

Am planning to keep the vehicle for quite sometime since have a 01 Cultus... until now even​.
Awaiting your kind and able guidance please.

I've also moved to the Turbo from 8th Gen. I was disappointed with 8th Gen headlights and am even more disappointed with Turbo headlights. By comparison, both my CL9's factory fitted HIDs with projectors as well as its fog lights are just awesome in terms of power as well as spread.

Another thing somebody mentioned earlier (which I disagreed with at the time) is the power of the Civic X AC. Now when summer is in full swing, I realize that its clearly inferior to my old CL9's AC both at night and during daytime. I've tried to turn off ECO but still the same.

To me it seems that the a/c in auto mode cant make up its mind exactly what blower speed to select or what vent temperature to keep. On the same drive at the same time of the day on the same road with the same outside temperature, the a/c blower speed and vent temperature is either too low or too high. By comparison my son's Passo 2014 with auto climate control keeps the cabin super comfortable with 25 degrees dialed in on the setting. However if one just uses the civic a/c the old fashioned way of min temp and play around with the blower speed, it is powerful enough to cool down the cabin is record time.

After considering all comments and feedback of current Oriel owners, InshAllah i'll be going with new Grande.

@taimurshafai1 Please do your homework for the Grande before you commit your money. Especially the check engine light issue.

Sir, it is indeed a very hard choice to make. For the time being your choice is limited to just two cars, the 1.8 Oriel and the Grande. Turbo at present is not available unless you want to buy is from the open market. Both Civic and Grande are good cars. The Grande will hold its value better over time. The Civic is a much bigger car with more than adequate rear seat space. I personally prefer the ride quality of the Civic, it reminds me of my 2004 7 series BMW. But that is purely personal choice. Both cars are closely matched as far as their engine power is concerned. Right out of the showroom the tire noise of the Civic is unacceptable. You will HAVE to replace the tires. That will cost you almost 40 thousand with BG Luxo exchange. We all know that the Grande's lights are blinding because most Corolla owners prefer to drive with full beam. Until recently the Corolla didn't have air bags or security feature in the key. With these concerns addressed the Grande is now pretty close to the Civic. The Grande also has paddle shifters going for it.

Since my Civic Oriel is still in the running in period, I have not driven it at any high speed to say how it does. Others seem to be satisfied with it.

If the Turbo was still available, But with just the Oriel and Grande to choose from it is very hard to say which to go for because both are packaged to compete for the same customer. Both cars have their admirers. The Civic has a impression in the minds of people that it is very sensitive and easily scrapes itself over speed humps etc. For these reasons the Corolla is held in a higher esteem in the minds of people. Personally, I prefer the Civic for its styling and large car feel.

Got my civic yesterday, booked turbo in jan then shifted to oriel and got it in 18 days of full payment as they were not giving delivery of turbo. Need to buy matts and stuff plz advice place in karachi thanks

Yeah absolutely i'll do homework before buying. I love Civic X, its beautiful, specially interior of Civic is more of my taste but the thing is you spend your hard earned money on your favorite car and bring her home and as the days passes, you begin to notice issues which starts to disappoint you. The number of issues i have came to know in Civic X (be it turbo or oriel) i have never heard in Grande. I have almost 7 grande in my circle and never heard engine light or any other issue, Grande's interior quality is better, fuel economy is also better than oriel, much more comfortable, a/c performance is great and since its toyota so much more reliable.
As far as ride quality is concern, yes Civic is more sporty to drive, feels much more planted on road, steering is much much better, although grande is quicker but due to interior design, shape and suspension setup, Civic is fun to drive, however CVT of grande is better.

From first day of launch of Civic X till today, I am waiting that Civic's quality might improve and issues might be resolved so that i may own one.
Why i am still waiting?
Because i want to own Civic as my 3rd car which i'll drive on week end only (May be ) .

I am excited for new facelift grande because it is coming with features which it lacked (Traction control, DRL, Projector, push start,etc)

Dear go for Civic eyes closed. I have driven grande and owner of Turbo. Have GLI at home as well.

Civic interior issues are no more prevalent. It has significantly improved . It is futuristic design with very good interior and exterior. You will love it. Mileage of 1.8 is also comparable to grande.

Rest your choice. I was once at same situation of choosing between civic n grande. Very happy and satisfied to select civic Turbo

Imo shape of A4 and even Corolla is more practical, graceful and mature than civic x.

I have both in the family. And my conclusion is both are good cars and at the end its about personal liking and preference.

When I prefer a better seating position, better driving experience, more planted car and confidence at high speeds, winding curves and sharp turnings the choice is Civic. Shape wise Civic is different while Corolla is a standard car with an ordinary body stance. But again shape is a personal preference and opinion.

And if I want to use it on kachi pakki roads and slightly rural areas, Grande is a very good package for such use which Civic cannot tolerate. I don't like the way Grande drives and the seating position is the most unlike able thing for ME. There's lack of futuristic feel in the interior design.

So its about preference. You just can't compare both and also a comparison of these 2 has always been a never ending fight.

About the resale, GLi and Altis 1.6 enjoy the best resale and same can't be said for Grande. I just bought this 2016 November invoice and 2017 registered 3800km driven Grande for 24.75 and has costed 25 after transfer for filer while brand new was costing 26 after registration. So there goes the resale theory.

But my personal liking and driving preference. Civic all the way. Best would be for you to experience both cars yourself personally back to back and parallel immediately. And then get what clicks your heart more.

@jklodhi, Roger sir. It's heartening to see you are also going in Civic's favour. No offence to Corolla as this shape has really put me in a fix. Older shaped Corolla's lagged miles behind the Civics in aesthetic sense. But this Corolla shape is quite good.

Civic and Corolla are equally known for the reliability and practicality all over the world but in Pakistan why people always give edge to Corolla over civic in term of reliability ?

I think it is myth created by old models. Now it is no more applicable as Civic have almost same durability. Yes height is one factor which is very crucial for Pakistani market.

Now even resale of civic is good although can't match GLI
