Have the car checked by a dealer if you know a good one. Some things to check :
- What’s the odo on the Turbo? Which engine oil was he using?
- Ask for fuel history (did he run on HOBC only or occasional Super fuel)
- Have the spark plugs checked and/or replaced
- Ask for throttle body cleaning history (if none get it cleaned). At times dealerships don’t do it hence INSIST they clean it even if it’s not required as they usually don’t even check before recommending to not clean it.
- Was the car aftermarket tuned? Or is running a stock ECU map by Honda
- Have the fuel filter inspected, if in a bad shape have it cleaned or replaced.
- A compression test should be good if you can find a place to do it. Not sure if Honda 3s does it but worth a shot asking.
- Check and replace air filter also.
Some of the above are things I wouldn’t expect the earlier owner to do, just a basic idea of how he kept the engine however I’d do most of these done asap if I’m getting myself a second hand civic turbo.
