I couldnāt agree more, just because a torque converter automatic gives a jerk which is transferred physically to the driver as well doesnāt mean its faster or more responsive. I have kept all models of Civic 1998 onwards and all automatics and at any speed whether from a standstill or rolling start, in real time the CVT in X is distinctively faster. The way a 1.8 X achieves higher speed with ease is far superior to how stupid those 5 forward prosmatec in both previous generations did if you time them on a watch.
Those Prosmatec transmissions really struggled to deliver swifter and faster response specially at higher speeds. Instead of a jerk this CVT immediately pulls away and delivers the power without any delay or downshift. Both physically and on paper its more efficient in delivering power. If the jerk your body gets is a criteria then CVT is not for you
What I have said is for the heck of it and a realistic comparison between both but in the very first place expecting acceleration and quicker responses from a 1.8 automatic family sedan is a joke. I hope Lewis Hamiltons, Daniel Riccardos and all Micheal Schumachers on these forums who own a Civic donāt get serious now š¤£š¤£š¤£
