No matter how much modifications and add-ons you do, a GLI will remain 1.3L car with no comparison to 1.8L and comfort of grande.

what else reason are you expecting ?

Bhai, modifications and ad-ons are of different nature. Those who know what they are doing already know they are not making a 1.3L exceed a 1.8L, otherwise it would have been a called an engine/gearbox swap. For most of us, the mods are meant to make the vehicle more appealing and stand out from the rest of the crowd, or maybe copy another's idea just because he likes it. And yes, the sky's the limit.
In the power department there is no comparison, there should be no comparison, however, comfort levels of both trims are the same because leatherette seats and chrome door latches or tweeters and a navi-system don't count in comfort.

Gli , Grande , Altis > same suspension .. same level of comfort. Same part numbers , same brake pads

Engine displacment differences and additional cosmetics

Surprised to know that GLI and Grande have same level of comfort and driving pleasure.

Yes, I agree as far as comfort goes. Driving pleasure is another factor. In that too it depends upon what you are specifically referring too. The 1.8L Grande is more fun to drive than 1.3L GLi in terms of power not in terms of handling where they dive into the same pool.

No doubt the owner has explained his GLI quite well... but i guess after reading all his posts.. it has become quite obvious that the amount he has spent on modifications is not worth the value/ pleasure.

But lets see whats the owner final take on this.

Thanks for the compliment brother. The amount spent on Hornet, if you analyse closely has not been aimed to enhance the driving experience. The small things have been put there just to satisfy the issue with us enthusiasts who like doing things every once in a while and remain excited, not get bored (as per our budgets) and remain connected with the car.

Its a substandard product which people buy only due to lack of options, Xli/Gli would be a piece of joke in other parts of the world.

Its not a sub standard product (completely) just because of lack of options. Let me tell you our Corolla is still better than those sold in some parts of the world. Trust me. However, I would buy a less options car with better shape, inherent aerodynamics, natural stability and driving experience/thrill than a full option vehicle in Axio, Corolla X etc

Rental cars are abused boxes of junk. you cannot compare them to a vehicle which is owned and driven by an individual. Further, technically speaking there are no differences in interior or comfort of 1.3 and 1.6. I have seen many 1.6 altis with much more quality issues than 1.3. Moreover, everyone shall understand that 1.3 AT is a car for a person who can spend 1,824,000. other person has 125K more and wants to enjoy bigger engine buys 1.6. Why not any body here understands that 125K above 1.3 or 500k above 1.3 carry relative importance and value. some people dont have even a rupee to spend after buying 1,824,000 car.

Everyone is wise enough for his interest and buy whatever he likes after considering his pocket condition. So please chill . . . .

There is no difference in GLI and Altis 1.6L. Same shell. Same interior. Same seats. Same suspension and same comfort level. Only engine and transmission is different.

I understand exactly how you must feel. I myself had the pleasure to own a Honda before and now I drive a Toyota. Every single time I drive it I do miss the fun I had driving my previous car. In terms of handling, transmission and pretty much everything except comfort Honda has done a better job.

However, I do enjoy the comfort and higher ground clearance of the corolla, makes it sturdy to drive. It is also a safe investment since I can sell it whenever I want without loosing much. I'd suggest you live with it, I know it's hard not to regret but it is a car after all and you will get used to it. It is absolutely not worth to waste your time and money you have put in it.
