Well anything is possible BUT keep in mind, City shares its platform with vehicles like WR-V , Fit and although 1.2L is not available on City , it was available on the other vehicles based on the same platform. Under the skin GM6 Honda City shares alot of components with other vehicles on the same chassis.
In case of Civic 11th generation, if 1.8L is not available with the Honda Indonesia which is Atlas Principal, there are less chances of it coming to Pakistan.
A 2L in LHD Civic is available , and that engine didn't come to RHD market . Even a 1L Turbo engine and 1.6L NA petrol engine was available in Civic X . If Honda Atlas want a second engine beside 1 5T, bringing a 2L is more realistic as that engine is under the bonnet of 11th BUT again if its avaibale for RHD CKD.
As an example the V6 Sorento currently in PK is FWD and reason being the V6 on RHD is only FWD. On LHD the same gen Sorento is avaibale with AWD. We/ local assembled vehicles are dependent on the availability of options and CKD kits.
As of now, we all are making speculation and assumption on basis of available information. That's why I said, wait for Indonesian launch and that will give us some direction as far as the engine.
Yes Atlas is capable of doing 1.8L locally, I never said they can't. BTW, there had been some news that long running R18 engine might be discontinued by Honda Global . As far as I know it's only application is Civic X as of now. Other application is the older HRV.
Technically, a 2L 300+HP Turbo as in Type R is also possible easily in Civic X or even Civic XI. A crate engine from Honda is available for around $6000.
