Today, went to Toyota dealership to inquire about the status of my car's delivery. There the salesman showed me pics of a Corolla burnt from front due to electrical short circuit. He quoted me the reason that the owner got fog lights installed from market, which caused this. As the front of the car was totally burnt, he had to discard the car for merely 7 lac rupees He also refused to install fog lights and advised me to keep the car stock. He told me that Toyota didn't provide any separate electrical connection for fog lights, so for installing the same, one have had to temper the original head lights electrical wiring, thus increasing chances of electrical short citcuit. Need opinion of experts who have got after market fog lights installed. Thanks and regards.

Two type of fog lights are available in market.
The cheap ones are fitted by altering the existing wires whereas the good ones have their own grips and wiring which is connected to battery.
I would advise you to go for good quality as the price difference is merely Rs. 5000/-

The cheap ones are fitted by altering the existing wires whereas the good ones have their own grips and wiring which is connected to battery.
I would advise you to go for good quality as the price difference is merely Rs. 5000/-

Fog light come with a cheap type of button but that is ok as far as you are ok with the looks. Button is wired somewhere beneath the glove box with wire of two small bulbs that are located on the innermost side of headlights (forgot what they are called). Electrical load, wire overheat and other problems one should have a separate appropriate gauge wiring with good connectors, proper insulation and good quality relay.

Good set of fogs comes with grip to grip wiring only one wire for earth might be peel of from original car wiring .. and fog lights have thier own separate push button , these lights works with parking lights on .. means if parking lights of your car are on, you push the fog lights button to lit them if parking lights are off then fogs will not lit ... My advice .. go for glass body Fogs, DLLA is cheaper but hard to find in glass ... I found them and then replaced the bulbs of these lights with good quality bulbs

Which car have you ordered?
I installed my Corolla's fog lights from the Toyota showroom. They sold them for around 4500; I don't remember the price exactly. The button for turning on and off the lights looks and feels cheap and the relay produces a strong sound when the normal or the fog lights are switched on or off. I did tell them to check it but they simply said that it is the relay which is producing the sound. To install the lights wires were cut from the from left door panel and separate wires were attached to the battery. Should I get them removed now? I feel that without them Corolla in black looks boring and weird from front.

Yes, there is a separate switch but it works with the parking lights.
Which means that you have the option to switch on/off the fog lights when parking lights are on, but you can not switch on the fog lights without switching on the parking lights.

As I mentioned earlier, no wire was cut. It had its own wire.

Wa-alaykum us salam bro. Mine is Altis 1.6 in Super White. Going to get it within one month, In shaa Allaah, as dealership had obtained additional quota for Altis 1.6. From which dealership did you get them installed? What is the brand and model number of the fog lights? True said, the front looks incomplete without fog lights.

Installed these fog lights and daytime running lights in Gli MT today.
The fog lamps are of Taiwanese Esuse brand and DRLs are of DLAA brand.
The good thing about Esuse is that they come with grip fitting. No wire needs to be cut. Plus the lamp quality is far better than the Chinese fog lamps available in the market.

I like to keep my car totally stock, however the lack of fog lamps in this shape of Corolla gives the feeling as if something is missing and car is incomplete. The fog lights really enhances the look. See the comparison picture below.

To switch on fog lights parking lights must be on.
The electrician did some connection with ECU but did not take connection from existing wires.
