The 2.0D used the absolutely ancient 2C-series non-turbo engine...
Toyota isn't too keen on passenger car diesel engines...the only common one is the 2.2D used in the Rav4 and some Lexus models in UK/Europe (2AD series) and the 1AD 2.0TD used in some countries...the ND 1.4 is pretty limited...
The next Corolla will move to the A20 dynamic-force D4-S multi-injection petrol engine instead. It is still atmo, but high-compression and uses both DI and MPFI.
