i think it's down to weight of the cars etc but if all else is equal then the non vtec should take the jump but get hammered further up in the rev range.

why wud the non vtech have an advantage at the start...???

aassume that the weight and the drivers capability is equal in both the cars...

a vtch is good at both low revs and high revs...that was most important logic behind the innovation of vtec and the likes

theory is:

vtec is fuel effiecient at low revs, a non vtec car would just start acting like a brutal internal combustion engine from 1rpm and make power.

and what abt the practical..

does this really happens in reality wrt the context

i mean..in a drag..u launch at around 3000rpm or over..

and i think the non vtech logic aims to find the best balance between fuel economy.. and power delivery throughout the rev range.. that means it will be the best in the middle..

vtech which should be best in lowrange and highrange...

jsut for the interest..which two cars are best suited to be tested on the theory

agreed with storm bhai's theory but usually launches are on high rmps (4-5k)so in this case vtech will hav the lead from start

keeping all else constant

bro i would go for a non vtec...ZC 1600cc....couz here in peshawar we had a non vtec ZC engine 1600cc and it use to eat d15b like anything...

honest truth is,.. who cares? if your D15 loses, just upgrade to a B16B/18C5-6,.. if that loses just switch to a H22A,.. if all else fails try the F20C1, and if that loses gof for a C32A!

1.6gli (non vtec twin cam) vs vti (sohc vtec)
and 1.6gli wins easily. This fact has been proven countless times by ali habibs near stock 1.6 gli(now with a 20v bt) by beating many "stage 1" vtis.

to be honest i have never felt any difference in driving a vti and an exi ....there is no so called Vtech punch in SOHC engines...

While that vtech could easily be felt after drive i drove a couple of b16`s.....that is DOHC
