Day 5 Continues:
After Breakfast I took some painkillers and applied muscle relaxant on my legs but it did not helped much. Today’s plan was to trek to the Bayal camp and Nanga Parbat Base camp. It was 8 Hour trek (both sides) and my condition was not allowing me to move an inch, so I decided to stay at fairy meadows because I don’t want to become problem for other group members.
But our tour guide and other group members encouraged me to join the trek, they asked me to join them for the Beyal camp trek. Tour guide advised me not rest, as it will make my condition worse and recovery will take more time. He said if I will trek it will be good for me, it will be painful but it will warm up my jammed muscles and will increase the blood circulation in them which will help in recovery.
As there was a long trip ahead and I wanted to recover asap so I took his advice and joined the group for trek. I started warming up half an hour before the trek and by the time we left the camp I was able to take small steps.
First 40 mins of trek were agonizing for me as I was feeling immense pain every time I took a step. But after that pain decreased gradually. I was feeling pain even at the end of trek but its intensity was not that much as it was when I started the trek. So guide’s advice really worked and now I was able to walk at normal pace.
I reached Beyal Camp in less than 2 hours (which is normally one hour trek
). Trek was scenic and although most of the trek was ascending but it was not difficult. I didn’t stopped at any place on the trek to take any pictures because I was trying to catch up with the rest of group. Just before the Beyal camp there was a small village, visitors are not allowed to go through or near these houses so we had to go around this area. This village was beautiful, it’s a small meadow which had a water stream passing through it but visitors are not allowed to take pictures of village, villagers or surrounding area.
After Some rest and tea break other members left for the Nanga Parbat base camp trek. I didn’t joined them because I have already pushed myself to my limits to reach there and trek ahead was almost 3 Hours long and more difficult than that. So I stayed, one more group member who was also super fit like me
decided to join me. There is only one hotel and a dhaba at Beyal camp there are not much facilities there. You can get drinking water from that dhaba and if you are lucky enough maybe there will be some water in the barrel of one and only Public toilet of Beyal camp :P. So be prepared for surprises
.
