1800CC vs 1300CC fuel average

Assalam Alaikum
I have heard from some car gurus that 1800 cc engine is better for corolla than 1300 cc in terms of petrol average as it gives better power to weight ratio than 1300 cc but practically my 1800 cc altis gives bad fuel average than Gli 1300 cc ... Can anyone explain this phenomena??

Because 2014 onwards, 1800cc corollas are having cvt transmission which is not conventional automatic
What is your car model and does it has cvt?

I previously owned Gli but in 2018 bought Altis 1.8. Average of 1.8 is astonshingly better than 1.3. Gli average was between 12 and 13kmpl. Whereas 1.8 average is 14 to 15 kmpl. But in response 1.8 is much much better than 1.3

Because the 1.3 engine has to exert more power to roll the car so its slow and less efficient under load.
A, bigger engine will naturally consumes more fuel however its quicker and is able to pull more load.

A long drive on motor way and hilly drive is where you will see the real advantages of 1.8

If you want fuel economy you should switch to Hybrid.

Yes 1800cc has better power to weight ratio...pkus engines are newer ..better transmission as well.

Do 2016 gli auto and 1nzfe which comes in x corolla have same gearbox?

No no it does not has CVT

As fastian04 mentioned above, your car is very old so its engine is also old. New corollas have new engines so better fuel economy

same car manual 1.3 vs 1.8, 1.8 will give you better mileage. It will have better low end performance so better mileage. and because if chassis is design for both 1.3 and 1.8 cc engines then it means it's properties should be to handle both. it should be strong to handle 1.8cc engine and have to be light to work with 1.3cc engine. So it is actually lies in mid range. 1.3 is low and 1.8 is high.
