Body work is now complete, only wait is for the fenders to arrive so that we can test fit them before we can send car out for paint. I must say Safdar had done amazing job !!! Local running boards also arrived, we opted for these because of the high gauge sheet as compared to the after market ones available in US/ UK.

Job well done. I will visit tomorrow to go over the vehicle. I can see that the car needs a jack clamp welded in place. It is on the driver side of the spare wheel well. Lets hope the fender arrive soon. Have you spoken to the painter? Maybe the painter can inspect the car and give his final approval. He can even start on the body shell. The new fenders would not need that much of an effort that would necessitate welding or hammering.

@nmshaikh Yes Nasir sb i already told him about that clamp and he said he might have one to weld in. I will ask painter tomorrow to inspect and give his verdict.

@hash4u Yes indeed it took long due to rust issue on the car and as far as color is concerned i want something which is period specific and when i say period specific than i have a huge range of any color which was offered by VW pre 64. I want a unique color which we dont see normally in Pakistan having said that this make me incline towards Coral Red L351. Atleast i have not seen any bug painted in Coral Red in Pakistan. Still floor is open for suggestions but as of now choices available are,
1. Coral Red,
2. Ruby Red,
3. Strato Silver,
4. Diamond Green

Coral Red looks very nice.. IMO Silver is least preferred on these classics as it kind of overshadow the beautiful chrome.

paint color selection and quality is a game changer
a dull color will overshadow all the hard work put inside and under the body (a non car person will just cross the car without noticing it)

my opinion from the list you gave is
2. Ruby Red

@hash4u Yes that was my first choice as well but i gave it a second thought after talking to painters as they are not recommending Ruby Red because they say it will fade very quickly. Tornado Red is another option, Shahzeb ul Haq painted his bug some time back in Tornado red and that is also a super color (pictured attached).

All brand new body to chassis rubber and body pads were set in place and was insulated using silicon. Waiting to test fit fenders (Once they arrive ) before we send it out for paint.

Today we went after long wait due to rain to see the progress as the LUGGAGE SHELF was to be scratched and repaired (in case of rust) but thank God everything was OK . Previous owner had put some sort of a tar board for sound deadening on LUGGAGE SHELF. It was scratched and cleaned, car was covered with Red Oxide to prevent it from rust. Only wait now is for Fenders and W Deck lid !!!!
