I have exactly the same ND A/C unit in my MKII... I haven't experienced such a strong blast of chilled air from the vents of a car's A/C.. perfect choice for a car of this big size cabin...

Leg space seems quite tight considering the size of the car... or its just the angle of the camera?

I'm glad this thread has been of some help to you, although to be completely honest, my cars are far more modified than they are restored. Which a great many purists may disagree with!

N/D stands for Nippon Denso, a Japanese company that has been a parts provider to a great many Japanese cars. The blower (in local language they call it a "baaja type A/C") you see in some of these pictures of my Impala is a Nippon Denso car A/C. This is easily available from local kabaar-khaanay, and can be readily modified to fit jeeps and other ulti-seedhi vehicles which don't have factory fitted vents / blowers. I am planning to install one such N/D A/C in my own 1984 FJ40...so the answer to your question is "yes. It can easily be fitted into a 1982 FJ40".

Thank you for the very kind words. The '67 (shown in the pictures of the first post of this thread) is currently being rebuilt, while the '65 (also shown in that set of pictures) is a running car that is currently undergoing some smacking around, in order to get it into optimum shape.

You hit upon a very pertinent point there. While this may not be uncharted territory, it certainly is difficult terrain to say the least. These vehicles (the Impalas) are infinitely more temperamental than any other vehicle I've rebuilt or restored. And I have to say...they're making me age rapidly!

Utmost pleasure sir. A little advice do post your 1965's restoration process in the vintage section of Pakwheels, i have checked some members over there own 1965 Impala's and there are few Impala's that is up for grabs, so the information might be helpful in future as these are difficult machines to maintain in Pakistan. The 65 Impala was in Kharian for quite a long time. Which is one of the reasons why this thread has gone into a state of near-redundancy for a while.

During this time, some radical body changes have taken place, in terms of external appearances.

Judge for yourself, by means of the pictures!

In addition, just a couple more things are left to be done. Foremost amongst these things, is choosing a good sound system. I'm inclined towards something hidden/concealed, which offers exceptional sound quality, as opposed to a great deal of eardum-blasting decibels. We'll see what we come up with in the coming days.

The Impala's brand new windscreen arrives at Pindi in a few days. With that, the qissa of its broken windshield will also come to an end, Insha Allah.

The interior has some minor things left, and shouldn't take more than a couple of days, at the most.

14th August...this ride will be hitting the roads, all ready and all correct, Allah be willing.
