I had an opportunity to drive the Celica today. It is in decent condition, but to put it right I would end up spending an awful lot of money, for something I don't really need. What on earth would I do with a 600 bhp Celica / Supra?
Besides, I'd much rather buy a '66 Impala with that sort of money, or put the '64 Impala right. Filhaal, let's put that project into cold storage.
On the visit to Islamabad, though, I did get to see some of the progress made on the '67. It's coming along beautifully well, Masha Allah. The final touches were the order placed for the Impala logo and lettering that is going to go onto the rear quarter panels. All the chrome work has come back, and is looking splendid. The initial patterns for the seats and side-boards have been fabricated, and the leather has been cut, accordingly. The black and light tan combination for the upholstery is looking decent. So is the leatherette fabric for the roof. So far, so good...we seem to be on track for the Demon to be handed over on 27th December. Two-three days are going to be spent on the compound rub, cutting, waxing and sealant. Perhaps some Scotchgarde protection for the leather interior.
New Year's eve, we should have our homegrown "Supernatural" Impala prowling the streets, Insha Allah!
