Actually, the car I've seen is a beautiful 1985 Celica coupe...the JDM liftback version I was wondering if the 2JZ-GTE would make a good fit in its engine bay.

With regards to the red highlights you were mentioning, we will be painting the "Chevrolet" emblem in bright red, with the embossed lettering in chrome. Other than that, the front and rear drum brakes are going to be painted in bright red, as well. So, yes...it should be quite an eye-popping result.

It's rather unfortunate that these cars have run into ruin over the years, and have been almost completely snuffed out by the locally-assembled "Jap-Crap". Peshawar is not the only city where we have been overrun with Japanese cars...it's everywhere. Which is why, driving a vintage vehicle is such a distinctive pleasure, and keeping these beasts alive and well, is such a challenge!

Thanks for the advice Saad. The car already has a 3S-GE (the non turbo engine). I was thinking, if I DO purchase it, of upgrading it to the 2JZ-GTE.

Boss, I was reading up that before July 1985, the A60 Celicas were rear-wheel drive. This is one of those models, as it certainly has rear-wheel drive. So that way, the 2JZ-GTE should theoretically be capable of being fitted into it, fairly easily. In real life, however, I have no ideas, since I've never really owned a Celica.

a 2jz can be installed in a Celica with a few modifications .. I got a V8 installed in Mine with a few modifications and that thing is a monster ... and with your credentials in resto modding cars .. well u can install a tank engine in a Celica and get away with it

The problem with a straight six engine is the length of the block and transmission bell, rather than the width. I'm just uncertain if the firewall and transmission well of the Celica would need to be modified to fit an inline six cylinder engine. I'm not in favour of doing this, mainly because the Celica I've seen has been beautifully finished, exterior-wise. Chopping up the firewall and floorpan much, would imply a lot of duplicated work. Of course, the alternative is to opt for a 1UZ, and simply follow the trail you've blazed so elegantly...although that would probably require some major modifications, too.

For now, though, most of this is food for thought, since the Impalas are taking quite enough time and resources, as it is. No harm in thinking aloud though, yes?

Fouad Bhai another example of 2JZ_GTE swapped in 74 Corona MKII.. Oracles (Kamran bhai) has a thorough understanding of JTins, he can help you in this regards.

As far as i know '85 Celica came with first generation 3SGE, so 3S-GTE will be an easy swap as compared to 2JZ without much modifications and alterations..

The engine being sold on here, is a highly modified 3S-GTE which produces between 500-600 horsepower, and is an AWD (all wheel drive) engine. The vehicle I've spotted is a rear wheel drive '85 Celica liftback with a 3S-GE engine, so yes, the swap with a 3S-GTE should be fairly straightforward. Of course, things like the chassis, the disc brakes, the suspension etc will have to be tweaked and reinforced for the massive increase in power and torque, if buying this car is a decided option. Let's see how it goes. I should be getting some definitive clarity on the vehicle, and the engine/transmission some time today, Insha Allah.
